Do you mean play IN an orchestra? The answer to that question would then be yes, I have. Not a professional one, but one with my high school and my church when I was a part of those things.

different denominations have different rules about music in and outside of church. ours was very laid back. on sunday nights we had a band play that comprised of a few guitars and a trapset. We put on monthly contadas (I don't know how it really is spelled) where the music was provided by an orchestra made up of members of the congrigation as well as outside musicians.

I've been to churches where Christian-themed alternative rock is normal fare.

I haven't touched a tuba in 5 years but I imagine I could play one agan given about a month to rebuild the proper lip calluses. (Didn't know lips could callus? Then you should try playing as the only tuba in a 50 piece wind band. With your director constantly harping that the tuba has to be heard over the rest of the instruments.)
