For the record, there are some factual inaccuracies and omissions in the above. Bathory's third record is Under the Sign of the Black Mark (really should have double-checked that one, no idea where the other title came from), and their selftitled disc came out in 1984, not 1986. It should be more clear that Chuck Schuldiner's band was Death, and that Slaughter of the Soul was not At The Gates' debut. There is also a lot of stuff omitted, mostly because I didn't feel like opening the industrial/darkwave can of worms. Other metalheads will be able to find and illuminate other omissions or shortcomings.

If you'll give me a diff, I can make any corrections.

Very interesting read all around. I think I'm going to be reading that several more times, and possibly taking notes or diagramming.

Who are you referring to? If I've offended anyone by criticizing there music, then they must have doubts about it except with that one comment I made about metal being all anger music and I apologies for that. I've said it once, and I'll say it again.. No one can offend me when they make fun of the music I enjoy and I find it funny that it's so easy to offend people when I make fun of there music. I'm not offended nor am I angry. Sorry if I sounded that way. I also wasn't talking specifically about you. I just don't like arguments that lead nowhere.

I bid you listen a little more carefully to the lyrics. Read through this before jumping to conclusions. Iron Maiden, good old fashioned Heavy Metal.

Anger music is Thrash Metal and the occasional dragon (or templar or Tolkien character or other epic quotation) is Power Metal.

I don't intend to contrtadict myself by starting an argument that I said was useless. I just want to ask you not to jump to generalizing conclusions. There's many different kinds of metal and the main difference between them is exactly the contents of the lyrics.
