Thought so. ;)

Anyhow, The Smiths. Thank you, goodnight. :)
Nah they don't sound like the Kinks. Thats a big insult to the Kinks if you ask me.

Sarah, who do you think would win in a fight, Morrissey or Robert Smith.
Are you down with the sound of the Devil's town?

I think I heard somewhere that it's actually just "White Stripes" and that the record company changed it for the CD/liner notes/promotion. Useless tidbit.

I fail to see how having "The" in your band's name makes you unoriginal. In fact, by using the definite article "the", they are trying to be the original, DEFINITIVE version of that band. They'd be more unoriginal by calling themselves "Some Strokes" or "A Few Strokes" since they'd be implying that there were other Strokes elsewhere. When they call themselves "The Strokes", they are proclaiming that they are indeed the one and only Strokes. All others must therefore be imposters and they can strike them down with the righteous fist of the law if they should encounter others.

If you want to fault bands for unoriginality, it should at least be based on their music or presentation and not on just their names.

Well I didn't mean to bring down the Kinks, I just noticed a strong similarity in the sound. I just think it's funny that the press etc. seem to think this new batch of bands is just the MOST original thing since the invention of fire, but it's really not.

And Robert Smith would definitely win. I love Moz's music to death, but he just doesn't seem like an ass-kicking type. 8) Smith is also pretty stringy and poetic, but I bet he could hold his own if it were absolutely necessary.

It's quite the amusing mental image though. lol.
