Meh, realy I dont see your point. While I do appreciate the skills of more skilled musicians I dont hate others for being simpler. LP and Evanescense are fun. There sounds are easy to listen to, lyrics easy to memories and awsome as anything for a headbanging sesion. Linkin Park is also a much more talented group than they are credited for. These guys construct every part of a song themselves, and they do a fine job of it. I enjoy there music alot. I dont give a shit of they've got alot of anoying 14 year old dbz/naruto fanboys as fans, I dont care about the exposure they get in the media, and I dont give the shit how "technicaly skilled" they are. They're great to listen to and damn anyone to hell if they tell me otherwise.Tono_Fyr wrote:To put it most simply, I hate Evanesence and Linkin Park because all they can manage to do is string together between one and four power cords per song with angsty lyrics over them while attracting some of the most annoying (and not to mention stupid) fan bases in existance.
You obviosly dont understand a single thing about rap. First theres two main types. One is designed for parties, clubs, pumping in a car with mates, etc. If you sit infront of mtv or click on an mp3 to listen to it you obviosly dont get the point. Its about moving your body and feeling the beet. Its not about "listening" to the music but about leting it take control of you.I don't know what the hell MB is, but rap does suck for similar reasons to Evanesence and Linkin Park. Simple, annoying music with repetitive, useless, and uninspired beats. It has a tendancy to drive me insane when I hear it.
The other type of rap is the meaningfull stuff. This is all about the lyrics. Generaly inspired by the artist's struggles through life. This rap I believe is the most powerfull form of music, as it describes often harsh situations through life in a raw and completely honest manner. Tupac's moma's just a little girl is a perfect example.
So yeah, you dont have a single clue about rap/rnb.

Simplicity gives me a headache. I can't stand hearing the same notes over and over again. Some people find it easy to listen to, but for me it's the opposite.bum wrote:Meh, realy I dont see your point. And you should capitalize RnB rather than saying it "rnb" because "rnb" looks like "mb". And I understand plenty about rap. Generally, when I go on ti-raids, I forget that some of them are actually decent, but the general shit that you hear just sucks.
I don't go to clubs, and "feeling the beat" means "gives me a damn head ache because it's the same damn bass note over and over". And, as I've said before, and shall say again, You don't dance to rap, you have a seizure. I skipped out on a dance at a TSA conference just because I got about ten feet away and the music started giving me a headache. I ended up watching this guy in the lobby of the hotel play WoW.
In conclusion, yeah, the emotional rap (which is in the minority) can be good. But the club shit sucks. And playing four notes for one song is for people who don't know how to play their chosen instrument.

this thread should be locked, for obvious reasons but just for kicks here I go:O
Iced Earth is not dark by any means, gothic music does exist though it has been misinterpreted, having any artist with at least one black article of clothing claiming to be gothic...but Gothic music as a genre is some of the most hauntingly beautiful music you could ever hear...think of the children...
Also, I agree that most of the criticism on the bands on this thread stems from their new-found commercial success...and not so much from their musical abilities, which brings me to my last point, I enjoy a lot of different music...though I will not list that here since that's what everyone seems to be doing...trying to outdo each other by listing their own tastes...no, that is not the point. The point is that musical ablity does vary greatly from artist to artist just as musical tastes vary from listener to listener, it's not fair to tell someone else they don't understand good or complex music because of the artists they listen to, it has nothing to do with that, that's just what they like.

Probably because you're a dumb prog fuckstick.Tono_Fyr wrote:Evansecnce = suck. Shit ass band, decent singer, crapy songwriting. Start with pianos, then four cords for the rest of the song to some angst ridden stupid bitch crying lyrics.
And when they kicked Tarja out of nightwish, I lol'd. It was rather funny to me (and still is).

Nailz, Tono started with Blind Guardian and other power metal. Although I do agree a lot of his reasoning is bullshit. But I'm so fucking sick of arguing around here.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.
