What is good about the military?

Post by x_rex30 » Thu Jan 28, 2010 11:44 pm

We understand honor way better than the typical civilian. That's why x gang members blend in so easily. A lot of my friends in the military were x gang members.

I call the military the dark brotherhood because we can be like brothers that do horrible pranks to one another(t bag anyone), but at the end of the day, we do respect one another.

When I am on a military base or if I'm at a VA Hospital talking to Vets, I can call them Brother.

Could you do that in your work place, or even by walking down the street? Not in this culture.

If you want to learn a thing about respect, I reccommend checking out your local recruiting office.

Just my thoughts on the whole thing.

I joined the navy, because I'm safer IMO out in the ocean than in the heart of the battles. Now if we fought another countries Navy, now that would be a different, scary story.

This is my last post for the day. Good day.

o... m... g...

you have no idea how much I want to beat the living shit out of you right now... :?

but i digress, don't confuse your "military experience" for the exact same experiences of others in the military. just state YOUR experience and try not (in your vast intellect) to "generalize" the military. there's a lot of things I'll let slide concerning your ignorance, but this is not one of those things.

as for your statement on going to war... I've served with several Sailors in Iraq, they were in the shit as much as I was. the fact that you would state "hey join the military, but don't go to war" just shows your cowardice.

I really hope you are going to the VA to help you out with your obvious issues and that you don't really work there or something (or just a creepy guy that hangs out there), and I REALLY hope that those "scientist at the laboratory" you spoke about in another thread didn't work there as well... because those guys are just Medical Lab Techs (regular people who are working to process your lab results so your doctor can tell you whats wrong with you), I would know, I use to be one before I joined the Army.

This will be the last time I ever give you the time of day, have a nice life.

P.S. - don't EVER call me "Brother"

You just don't understand the superior intellect that is x_rex30, kenisama. I cannot stand idly by while you all conspire to rid the world of the genius that is x_rex. I feel it is my civic duty to do all that is within my power to defend the wisdom that resides within him.

Well, you just posted, and I'm expecting you are hoping I read your post and want a response.

I just now took the time to read it(sorry), and just so you know, I see where you are coming from. Do you not see me preach gray areas? Do you think I can't understand what you are trying to say?

Though you say don't call you brother, we are brothers. That's the fucked up part. And you saying otherwise to me is a bit disrespectful. I loved my buddies in the navy and it was easy to act like brothers to meeting new people from different ships. I don't know about you. Sorry if you don't agree with what I'm saying, but I haven't even said the other side of the story. Or even mentioned the other side of the coin.

There are IMO, a lot of good reasons to join the military and a lot of good reasons to stay the hell away from it. Just so you know, it fucked me up. After my time spent, I started to constantly have panic/anxiety attacks. My Marine friend who served in Iraq(I think a total of three tours) has PTSD. I understand the damage that can be caused. I even say to people a lot "If you are a extremely non aggressive person, try to stay away from the military because it is an extremely aggressive environment".

I know there are differencing of opinions, but you just concluded that I probably wont respect yours. That is where you made a mistake. That makes me, IMO, the better man. I know you probably couldn't take what I said and already put me on your foe list or whatever, but do know I do understand your viewpoint and I agree with most of what you are saying. Though with what you are saying, people do take what happens to them differently than others. The view points are all over the place. You can not be black and white about it. I mainly support just the general action of supporting our troops. We all join for different reasons.. some to kill.. some to protect.. and some because they have no where else to go. And then you hear others categorize all of our mindsets. We join and we have to do our jobs once in. Some of the exact jobs most of the world would not agree with. It's part of the reason a lot of us have severe mental health issues. Just imagine good hearted people that ended up doing things they never imagined themselves doing that a good person wouldn't even want to do. Sometimes we have no choice. I know about precautions from prevent ambushes in Iraq. I even asked my friend about it and he couldn't say a thing. Don't do this labeling of how my mind works. I get it. I get what you are saying and I even see far past what you say. I've been involved with the military for long enough, had plenty of friends outside the military and have done plenty of research to understand the different things that come into play.

Thank you for your time. But I dunno.. with your hasty generalizations about me, I dunno if it is even worth my time
