Well, in the aftermath of the sign-ups for AtomX's Online IC Tournament, I noticed there were quite a few people who wanted to participate but did not get a chance to do so. On top of that, most of the responses for the first-time participants (myself included) was, "That was fun; I want to do it again some time." Seeing as there appears to be a demand for some sort of organized IC matches, I thus am proposing to organize Iron Chef matches on a (semi-)regular basis.
You've got my interest, but you might just be a dreamer at this point. How are the logistics of this going to work?
Seeing as this is only an interest gauge, I have yet to draw them out entirely and concretely, but here's a general breakdown of how it's going to work: At the beginning (This means 12:00 AM EST, Monday morning) of every other week (possibly every week or every month, depending on how many people want to participate) there will be sign-ups for who wants to participate. It will work on a "first come, first serve" basis, although people will be discouraged from participating in consecutive events to give more people a chance to try it out. The IC match would then be held the following weekend, and the results would be posted the beginning of the following Monday, to repeat the cycle.
As for the rules of the specific matches, they will be generally modeled after AtomX's Online Iron Chef Tournament. However, do remember that this is a generalization. In fact, the rules will be prone to change from match to match in order to keep the events interesting, so don't even bother trying to ask me on specific rules at this point. That is to say, once in a while I am going to switch up the rules in order to keep the competitors on their toes (like, impose creative use of subtitles, for example).
Now that I can see you've put just a dash of serious thought into organizing this, I'm putting a bit of serious thought into participating. How do I let you know that I'm willing to participate if you fire up this idea?
That's simple enough: Just post. All you need to do is say that you would be interested in participating in ICE matches organized by me and I'll take note that there is indeed a demand for my supply.
Also, if you have questions, logistical or otherwise, feel free to ask them here. Chances are, you've got a question which I haven't considered, and forcing me to figure out an answer will only make the whole process better in the end.
On second thought, I think the whole thing is interesting, but I don't want to edit. Is there any other way for me to participate or otherwise help out?
Of course there is. In order for me to get this thing running, I'm going to need two things other than editors: coordinators and judges.
In a coordinator, I'm looking for four main things. The first and foremost is availability. Naturally, I'm not going to be around every weekend to keep things running, so I'd like two other guys (or girls, as the case may be) to keep things in line if I'm gone or in a coma. Moreover, I also want several other things in coordinators: a large library of very strange music, a twisted sense of ingenuity, and a good deal of sadism to top it off. If you follow my reasoning, I think you can figure out what kind of person I want for this spot.
As for judges, I am looking for five of them. I am not quite as sure what I want in them, but I am looking for experience in watching videos. It would be best to have an "all-around" sort of taste in AMVs, but it's not necessary. What definitely is necessary is the ability to separate editing from source, and beyond that, the ability to recognize on-the-spot creativity.
Keep in mind that I'm not accepting any applications (I use that word very loosely), as this whole thing is just in the idea stage at this point, but it's something to consider.
[insert asinine/unproductive comment or question here]

Grip your joystick properly; it really does help.
Okay, so now I'm a happy camper, off to post that I've got raging interest in this whole thing. Any thing else I should know beforehand?
You should know that the whole point of this is to have fun. I have a twisted sense of humor and love putting people on the spot in ways that make them dance on the ceiling. If you love to have your sense of creativity challenged, like on-the-fly thinking, or just like editing, don't pass the chance up.
