AnimeUSA FTP now open
There was no announcement made on ausa's main page, but the rules have been updated as we now accept ftp entries for the AMV contest. Now you broke otaku can submit your videos!
*Rules ganked from the contest webpage*
Submitting via FTP
If you just can’t get to the post office quick enough, you can submit your entry via our FTP. If you don’t know what FTP is or how to use it, chances are this method is not for you.
Each submitter needs to first email amvcontest@animeusa.org and request a username and password. When making your request, please tell us your real name, as well as your studio name/handle that you go by, as this information will be used it creating your account. We will do our best to get back to you with the account information as soon as possible.
Do NOT share your login information with anybody. Your account will have full access privileges for your home directory, and that includes the DELETE option. If we find submissions from multiple studios in the same home folder, we will disqualify both parties.
Do not try to download anything you've uploaded. Your downloads are capped at 2K/sec, and we're watching you! ^.~
You only need to request one login, even if you are uploading two videos. Put them both in the same folder, or create subdirectories if you feel so inclined.
Uploaded entries are no different than submitting on disc, so be sure that you upload your video in an acceptable file format (See the section on "Submitting on Disc" for details)
Each submission MUST be accompanied by a SCANNED copy of the filled out AUSA AMV Contest Submission form. A .txt file with all the information is not good enough, we need your signature. Alternatively, you can upload your video(s), and snail-mail your completed submission form(s) to us. Simply upload a text file saying that you plan to do so.
Even if we received your video(s) on time, if the submission form is late, your video will be marked as late, and runs the risk of being DQed.

Then how do we confirm that the upload was successful?VicBond007 wrote:Do not try to download anything you've uploaded. Your downloads are capped at 2K/sec, and we're watching you! ^.~

Since the FTP account sounds like it's UNIX based, you ought to be able to telnet into the same account and run some commands to check that. Typing 'ls" will show the contents of the folder, for instance. If you're worried about file integrity, you might want to figure out how to do checksums.

You can see the contents of your own folder, that includes the file size. If it's all there...it's...all there! If the file doesn't play, I'll chew you out and then give you time to resubmit

Depends what you mean. fandubs/resubs don't fit in, but things like re-done tv openings and movie trailers are allowed. Hell, we even have our own category for them.

I have two movie trailers, and its a pleasure to speak to you VicBond. I've always admired your work; which in turn inspired me into making my parodies.
One of the trailer was shown at a screening for Otakon, and is unfortunately 9 minutes and 14 seconds. Should I send it anyway, or is that better for the Fan Parody block?
