The playlist and "results" of the AMV Cage Match panel at ACen 2016, which took place Saturday at 9am in Panel Room 14.

PANEL DESCRIPTION: Updated with all new videos! You decide: Classic, or fresh? Retro, or shiny new? Which AMVs reign supreme??? Come watch some head-to-head battles and vote for the winners! Will nostalgia win out, or the bright lure of newer releases? Ready … FIGHT!

CRITERIA: “Retro” AMVs used footage from 2006 or older. “Shiny” AMVs used footage from 2014 or newer. (The date the AMV was created didn’t matter.)

WHY: Every time I run this panel I inevitably have at least one or two people approach me afterward to ask, "hey, remind me what that show from that one AMV was?" I find this panel is a great way not only to introduce "newbie" fans to older shows, but also to intrigue "veteran" fans who haven't checked out anything new for a while to take a look at current series. Plus, I freakin' love AMVs and have a blast researching this panel every year.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE: the "cage match" is just a framing reference for showing awesome AMVs; none of the "results" should be taken seriously, as they are highly subjective!

We did have a good turnout! Very small at the beginning, but the seats filled steadily (so much so that, by about halfway through, there were people who had to stand in the back). Sorry you couldn't make it! Hope you can come if I get to run this panel again next year!
