Come to the AX Iron Chef and I'll have a SUPER AWESOME SECRET SURPRISE regardless whether I win or lose.
Will it be me busting out my dance moves? A revolutionary new after effects-blender-bryce3d video? My declaration of a separate AMV colony free from the MPAA? Or my long awaited movie deal with Universal Studios to adapt Naruto on the big screen?
You won't know until you see it!

So here's a question regarding codecs.
For the source material, it's my intention to provide the footage to the editors in DV AVI format for the sake of speed and stability. I know DV isn't the best quality, but it's "good enough" and in a situation like this speed and stability are more important. I will also be providing editors the raw VOBs along with tools to use them (VirtualDub, AVISynth, etc) if they desire.
Having said that, I would like to hear arguments in favor of offering the editors a copy of the footage in an additional codec.

I prefer lagarith avis, but if DV works as good and saves more space, it's fine with me.xstylus wrote:So here's a question regarding codecs.

I'd almost say I'd like to work with avs scripts, but they aren't that stable in CS5 yet.

i think DV is fine. scripts would just slow down the render.

So who's challenging Troy? You mentioned in the rules that a challenger is only open to the judges? Wish that new rule was a little open.

I'm slow as hell. It would be the most lopsided battle in the history of any AMV Chef or Iron Editor.Ryvannis wrote:So who's challenging Troy? You mentioned in the rules that a challenger is only open to the judges? Wish that new rule was a little open.
I should clarify that rule. It's a panel of chef judges (those who have won past AMV Chef events or have won an award in the main AMV competition in the past). Not to be confused with AX AMV competition judges!
Hmm... you won an AX award in the past, hadn't you? Wanna be a judge and take the risk of getting picked? Who knows, Castor might very well pick you...
