So we are three days away from the convention. Is there any word on the finalists?

Hey Folks! I have an update that I know many of you have been waiting for! THE AUSA Contest finalists are now determined. I apologize for the lateness of this post, but the final scores came in just after the weekend and I just compiled the list last night at 5 am. We have run behind the eight ball this year due to circumstances beyond my control and next year *I* plan to have things much more stream lined. I will say this, I liked every single one of the videos for the craftsmanship and work you ALL did, but I had to be the one to make the decisions of did something make the cut, or not and why. but so you all know how things were derived:

I have a staff of 7 people including myself, we all reviewed all entries with respect to the amv itself, the contest rules, and all of us enjoyed your work! There are several that did not even make it into judging due to various reasons and to be set aside this way it was the consensus of the Judges not just one Judge making the call. If your video did not make it to the judging, I will contact you and let you know separately after the convention via email as to why but it was nothing personal. Once the video was set to be judged, then each judge scored your video in several categories on a scale of 1-10 which was averaged. I then took the judges scores (including mine) and averaged them again to determine the finalists I am listing here in no particular order as the final winner is determined by the audience.

these finalists will have their showdown in front of an audience, and one in each category will be voted best and one of all of them will be voted best in show! Fear not, there are TWO more awards that can be awarded, even if you did not make the finalists, we have the Coordinators choice and the Judges choice award and those are chosen from all entries, not just those that went to the finalists! Again, Congratulations on those that made the finalist list, and good luck to them for best in category/show!

Two last notes:

You did not miss anything, due to circumstances there will be no Comedy category due to various reasons all videos submitted for comedy had been precluded from judging. again, I personally feel you ALL did and do GREAT work, but rules are rules. Don't fret, I will contact those that were precluded via email, but probably not till after the convention will I have the time to send the emails.

I will update the top post with the winners listed shortly after the convention with all awards given. Those who won awards will be contacted to verify address for shipping of your award if you are NOT in attendance and can receive your award in person! If you are a finalist and will be in attendance, please let me know by noon Sunday via email, or leave a note with the staff of the AMV room (that's my staff) so I can have your award ready if you are picked by the audience or recipient of one of the two Judges awards.

And about the short lead time for the finalists, we were under the gun for this year due to unforeseen issues. please understand as I posted them within hours of having the finalists known that I did get intend always to do so once i had them. If I am the Coordinator next year I will have a much different time frame and finalists will be posted much earlier (barring unforeseen issues)
