VCD version there now. Prepping DivX version.
Last frame wasn't getting compressed, so I added blackness to beginning and end.
Sorry for the poor masking, I was out this afternoon. :)

Rut had to run off to work, but asked me to relay this message.
All those who have at least begun uploading by midnight will be able to compete. For others who weren't able to finish in time, if they still wish to be a part of the MEP (but not the contest), he'll be leaving the FTP open for another hour or so. Again, any entries with an upload start time of later than midnight will be allowed in the project, but are not eligible to compete.

Qualified Videos and Restatement of the Rules

Post by RutKiskasca » Tue Sep 06, 2005 3:50 am

I'd like to thank all the editors that participated in this impromptu
competition. I will be posting the preliminary results so you can all vote
within this post. First, though, I thought that I was pretty clear on the rules as we all decided them, but here they are again just to avoid any confusion.

The rules were as follows for entry. The competition was open to any editor who wished to enter. Competitors could enter as many videos as they wished. The videos could consist of any video source (anime or non-anime) or no video source, any audio source, or combination of audio sources, or no audio source, and be in any format, framerate, etc. Editors were encouraged to use an easily scalable aspect ratio, and to submit the highest quality files possible without sacrificing time. Editors were given until midnight EDT US, 6 September 2005 to begin uploading their videos. Editors were given access to server space on kiskasca productions webserver to upload their videos, or they could upload them to an alternate server, as long as I was able to begin downloading a finished product from their alternate server no later than midnight. Editors wishing to use my server merely had to begin their upload by midnight. Once the file name appeared on the server with a time stamp before 0600 hrs Western Europe Daylight Time (GMT +0100hrs), the file was considered to meet the time deadline. If a file was determined to be subsequently unviewable, the editor would be contacted to request assistance, but no alternate versions of the video file would be uploaded. Any adjustments to access the file would be made on my computer (i.e.- codec installation or updating, alternate player installation.)

To compete for prizes - each editor that submits at least one video will get one vote. Regardless of the number of videos submitted, each contestant will get only one vote. The contestant will vote for the video he or she truly believes is the best video. The contestants will vote by PM to me on the contest forum, no later than midnight EDT US on 7 September 2005. At that time, votes will be tallied, and results posted. In the event of a tie for first place OR second place, all videos having sufficient votes to be ranked tied for first or second place will be placed into a separate round of voting, and these videos will again be voted upon by all original contestants. Each contestant will again have only one vote, however, in this tiebreaker round, they will only be able to vote for the videos that are participating in the tiebreaker round. This tiebreaker process will be continued until two clear winners remain, one for first place and one for second place. Prizes will then be awarded to the winners. I shall have the final authority on all disputes, and I shall place one vote in each round of voting. My videos are not eligible to win, and will not be listed in the voting. To participate in the "Multi Editor Project" - All entries that are playable files will be eligible to be included in the MEP. Once the competitive entry period is elapsed, editors interested in submitting videos for the MEP may do so to the same ftp upload site that was available to them for the contest. The qualifying videos for the competition have been accounted for, and timestamps indicate their validity. Backups of the server side directories have been made, to avoid tampering.

Editors may submit "Exposition only" video clips until the
voting is completed. At that time, the ftp upload site will be closed, and all
submissions compiled into a single project file for distribution. Distribution
will be in the form of a permanently hosted project file for download on kiskasca.net, as well as digital media which will be mailed to representative editors who have confirmed their intention to attend a major convention (i.e. Anime Weekend Atlanta) where they may be approached and copies may be requested.

Note on "appropriate content": Once all submissions have been received, an oppertunity for participants to democratically request the exclusion of an entry from the distribution copy will be made available. Any participant may request that another participant withdraw a clip from inclusion in the distribution copy. If the creator of the disputed clip does not wish to withdraw the clip, then the party requesting exclusion of the clip may request in public forum that the clip be excluded. One 24 hour period will elapse while the requesting editor solicits democratic support from other editors. If a simple majority of all editors originally participating in the project is achieved, the clip will be excluded. Such clips will then be kept for possible inclusion on a "Director's Cut" or uncensored version of the MEP. Distribution of such an uncensored copy would be by reqeuest only, and subject to the laws governing the state of residence of the requester of the product. Production and shipping of the uncensored product would be at the expense of the requester.

Ok...that summs it up...now, here are the qualified entries for the contest portion, and links to the respective files. Files appear in alphabetical order by editor name or abbreviation.

(NOTE: There is one particularly graphic video by Godix. Since it doesn't appear to depict sexual content in the strictest interpretation, I would think it would be ok, but out of respect for the forum, you will have to PM me for the link when you are ready for it.

NOTE: RocketMan below is attributed to ICHIGOFEVER. He has informed me that this attribution is innaccurate. This video used similar source to his other video, but did not have a name attached to the file. Could someone please claim it? We have a verification process once you identify yourself as the editor.

Server access

Post by RutKiskasca » Tue Sep 06, 2005 4:29 am

Folks, there seems to be a bit of a flood of gets on the server, probably combined with a maintenance window, and I also suspect that somewhere in a SATCOM leg of the communications channel (my field of work) there may be what we in technical lingo refer to as the S3G effect...(Sheep Shit and Swamp Gas) interference between an earth terminal and one of the DSCSIII constellation of satellites...all conspiring to cause you to not be able to access the server.

This is temporary, and is being addressed. You have the right information...all links have been checked and triple checked. Which means no more than 50% of them could possibly be bad. I will contact the engineers in a few hours, and if there is a prolonged interruption, we will extend the voting accordingly.

Be righteous...positate the negative. If the world throws pies at you, you just pour yourself a tall cool glass of piemodade!

Rocketman

Post by RutKiskasca » Tue Sep 06, 2005 8:49 am

We need to identify the editor who created the video listed as ICHIGO-RocketMan.avi in the file listing. Ichigo has informed me that it is not his video. It has similiar sources to his, but did not have a name attached originally.

Please claim this video if it is yours.

Also, I am getting some assistance in creating a torrent of all the qualified files. There should be a link to a torrent soon.

Be sure to start getting your votes in to me by private message.
