Yeah, this was quite a shame. We pretty much all agree that this was due to the AMV contest not getting a Main Events screening out of the 4 times the contest played. While the 4 times were very nice, none of the rooms could hold a lot of people, so that's why we think voter turn out was low. I don't think the powers that be anticipated the audience demand for the contest screenings (and I don't think they were used to the new venue's layout), so next year they said they will definitely give the contest a Main Events screening at a better time slot so that more attendees can actually *watch* the contest.

In terms of ballot counts, I'm not sure if Mike's OK with giving out exact numbers, but I will say it was less than 200.

ooooooh the AMVS were my favorite part of anime next! i really like watching new amvs and learning about new animes! all of them were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GREAT!!!!!! the comedy ones had me cracking up! haha! i couldn't belive i actully one for drama...lol the other ones in my opioun did a better job...ehh oh well no complaints

but...i thought the winners were suppose to get a copy of all the videos or something? guess not =P

While we are unsure if we'll be able to get copies of the contest to the winners, you can expect a little something from us in the mail in the coming weeks.

If I remember correctly from last year, everyone who entered was supposed to get something. Will it be the same for this year's entries?

As we don't have the time or resources to send all entrants a gift (though we'd like to), only the winners in each category will receive an award via mail. Perhaps in the future when AnimeNEXT expands and perhaps we get a larger budget, we'll be able to send a little something to all entrants.

Oh? that would be nice, didn't know you were shipping prizes also. do we have to send in any SASE or anything like that for them?

If you ever give all entrants gifts - I just want a copy of all the videos - it's a pain when not all are up for download.
