Anime Expo 2011 Anime Music Video Contest rules are up!

To be honest, I wasn't expecting a cash prize after this year at all, I figured it was a one-time thing to go with the year's theme. I'm definitely not complaining about this year's prize at all, but I wouldn't be crushed if it didn't come back. I'm not in this for the money [Which is good, as Im pretty sure making a profession out of AMVs is, you know, kind of difficult], I just wanna give people a good show. The prizes are a bonus~

Admittedly the AMV=Profit=UR GUNNA GET SUED aspect of things does have me a bit nervous, but I'm pretty good at overthinking things as well, and part of me thinks the interwebs is blowing things out of proportion.

Appreciate the work you're doing though DP, it's kinda frustrating for me to have our annual AX drama start this early [Whether it is legit or not], so I can only imagine how you feel right now.

Appreciate the work you're doing though DP, it's kinda frustrating for me to have our annual AX drama start this early [Whether it is legit or not], so I can only imagine how you feel right now.

AX is always going to have drama because it's the big guy so everything it does is under a microscope. Not helping is the fact that AX had a longstanding bad reputation with regards to treatment of AMV activities in general, so the AMV event gets an even bigger microscope.

That's not to say the contest doesn't have its problems, but I feel the biggest problem is perception. Even if the event were running perfectly, it still would be hampered by a perception that AX "doesn't care" about AMV. I think AX needs to make a "shock and awe" effort to overcome it.

HMMM how about i just grow my beard out a bit and get the black robe with the ELP lighting on the inside seams like Flynn from the End Of Line Club scenes on in Tron Legacy. That way if a particularly badass video impresses I can tilt my head look up at the screens and say "RAAAAADICAL MAAAAAAN"

Anyway, are confirmations gonna be a bit speedier this year? Kinda wonky to send your entry and not get any word about it until around the time the contest starts. Last year I figured things would be messed up because of the upheaval that went on. Faster Confirmations, Git'R'Dunne!!
