So, what about those confirmations?
Are we going to get them after the finalist list is up like last year then and those who submitted in months early have no chance to resubmit?

At least the hard part is done now.xstylus wrote:Certainly was a hell of a surprise for me, seeing as we hadn't finished the third (and final) block of judging yet.Castor Troy wrote:Finalists have been posted on the amv mailing list and they are...

We're doing it very soon though. All of Drama and half of Action is done so far.
(Note: I am not a coordinator, just a judge. No questions about specific vids please, and direct any contest questions to Michael.)

It's on par with previous years. I will defer to Michael for the exact number.Rider4Z wrote:estimation on how many entries there were this year mr. stylus?

Though we haven't judged it yet, I do know there was an increase in submissions to that category. I still think it's low hanging fruit for a seasoned veteran or After Effects guru, but I was pleased for the increase nevertheless.Sephiroth wrote:Hope you got more AMVtv entries this year, i tried to go after the categorizes you guys mentioned not getting to many of last year.
In regards to AMTV, I'm somewhat of the opinion that "less is more" and that it might be more prestigious, and competitive, and satisfying as a three-vid category. In fact, I think all the categories could stand to lose a video or two in favor of making room for expanded categories since our current ones are rather broad. "Drama", for instance, is always bursting at the seams with vids and could easily be split into two categories such as "Light Drama" and "Dark Drama".
I had meant to propose that to Michael after last year but never got around to it. Figured I might as well voice it and hear what ya'll thought. ^^;;;

Hm, I'm not entirely sure about bumping AMTV down to three, but I do agree that there should be another category, and making the categories smaller seems like a fine way to go about this. I like the idea of 'Light Drama' and 'Dark Drama', but I'd also really like to see a 'Fun/Upbeat' category. I mean, it's a tight fit, but drama can always go into drama. But those more fun vids kinda just don't have anywhere to go. I remember there was a Kodocha vid last year [Whos name escapes me] in Comedy, and while I really enjoyed it, it wasn't exactly funny, just fun. Kind of an unfair advantage, methinks.xstylus wrote:In regards to AMTV, I'm somewhat of the opinion that "less is more" and that it might be more prestigious, and competitive, and satisfying as a three-vid category. I agree with you. In fact, some of us said that exact same thing last year regarding that vid. It was a great vid but it didn't really fit any particular category.Hagaren Viper wrote:...but I'd also really like to see a 'Fun/Upbeat' category. Five categories of five vids plus a three-vid AMTV category equals 28 vids which is the same amount the contest consists of currently. It's schedule neutral, so it's very doable if Michael agrees it'd be beneficial to go that way.
