I think I still have the Nokia Theatre one from 2008. That one for sure will be at least 5 bucks!Ileia wrote:You guys make sure to sell your collectible AX AMV tickets and make mad stacks!

Did this ever get posted? Did Troy become a con-plague zombie? It worries me...XStylus wrote:That would be "Fascination" by Dean Seirafi, AKA Ryvannis.shiro_clanclan wrote:Anybody got info for the Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica video that played in the Pre-Show at the contest to "Don't Cry Out" by Shiny Toy Guns? I've tried everything I know to find it and came up empty. I assume it's in the 'leftovers' list but that list is only creator/title and not series/song so...![]()
I mean, it's not a main contest thing so I don't need it for review purposes, but I loved the video personally. Would love to see it again.
I'll be posting a pre-show playlist within the next day or so, once I've properly gotten over the con-plague. :S

Yep, I became a zombie and got ran over by a crappy purple scion, but I ate a few brains and got better.Tsu! wrote:Did this ever get posted? Did Troy become a con-plague zombie? It worries me...
Anyway, let me 'splain PreShow a bit, since I'm sure people will ask how the playlist is formed.
PreShow consists of entries that we felt deserved notice, as well as ones that did decently in judge scoring but came up just short. Of those entries, we try to give the better PreShow slots to those who declared on their entry form that they'll be attending AX. Thus, where your vid landed in PreShow is not indicative of how it performed in this year's judging.
The final block is the "Honorable Mention" block. These are entries which Vlad and/or I especially liked and wish had made it into the finals. Additionally, being the final vid to play in PreShow should be considered a special honor, and can be informally deemed "Coordinator's Non-Finalist Favorite".
First block: (Unfortunately cut due to prior activity running late)
1) Stand Strong - By: animefreak7
2) I'll Find You - By: Gemma
3) Disastrous Djinn - By: Kireblue

1) This Video was (NOT) Entered Into Drama - By: Sephiroth
2) The Distance - By: Kyle Welker
3) Like Ships in the Night - By: Tori

Third Block:
1) All the Gaston - By: Mr. Pilkington
2) Fascination - By: Dean Seirafi

6) Fancy Feast Gamma [Commercial] - By: drewaconclusion
7) Meaty Cheesy Starish [Commercial] - By: Dianna Ramon
Honorable Mention Block:
1) Valor - By: MycathatesyouAMV
2) Counting Stars - By: EllipseIris

"Bending Inferno" had that honor in 2012... or would've if some lighting BS hadn't forced me to delay the start by playing a couple extra vids.Rider4Z wrote:you and your rom/senXStylus wrote:Additionally, being the final vid to play in PreShow should be considered a special honor, and can be informally deemed "Coordinator's Non-Finalist Favorite".

Re: Anime Expo 2014 AMV Competition - Hints about 2015
Ch-ch-ch-chaaanges!
I think now would be a good time to give people a heads up on some stuff coming 'round the bend for 2015. Not much is changing, but the things that are changing are significant enough that you guys should have an early notice.
DISCLAIMER: Changes are subject to change. Nothing's final until the official rules are released which will probably be sometime in January.
1) Because we got so many submissions, we're twisting the thumbscrews on the freshness rule a bit. Presently, the freshness cut-off will be October 1, 2014, and might be tightened up further in future years, as I'm noticing that many of the entries we received last year were on average 6-months old or newer.
2) We're twisting some thumbtacks on vids that are mostly long reels of micro-AMVs (AKA: AMV-Hell style submissions). Love em' or hate em', but nevertheless AMV-Hell style submissions shall no longer be accepted. This was decided after a lot of discussion with coordinators of other events, so don't be surprised if this becomes a thing at other conventions too.
3) If one of those micro-AMVs is a commercial, here's a twisty thumbs-up because the Bonus Genre will be back for 2015, so send it there please!
4) The submission deadline, barring any unforeseen strangeness, will likely be May 2nd, 2015.
Everything else in 2014's rules will mostly carry over to 2015, with minor clarifications being the only other changes. If there's anything that anyone feels needs attention, I'm always open to hearing your feedback.
