Well, this was my first year entering AWA Pro and it was entertaining. It was interesting to watch a contest without the mass audience of a con and it really gave each vid the full attention that they all deserved. It also showed me the harsh reality that you can't sit down and watch 50 AMVs consisting of mostly drama in one night.
I was suprised by some vids:
-Firewall and Undiscovered Countries really stood out as "outside-the-box" ideas and showed alot of creativity.
-The Full Metal Panic drama vid was an awesome suprise. I've been waiting to find a solid dramatic video to FMP that didn't focus all on the mechs, so kudos to the creator.
-BTB totally hypnotized me with the wealth of awesome effects, but I kinda saw that coming. I'm still not too sure how it showed up in "best artistic".
-The contest as a whole was solid. Some vids stood out more than others in craft but alot of the vids showed some good ideas and concepts even if they needed a bit more work.
Things I was dissappointred in:
-Not one real dance video. Sure "what is love" had dancing but it was more upbeat/fun. I was really hoping to see a shiny, fast video set to some speedy techno. Oh well...maybe next year...
when I make mine.
Anyways, I enjoyed watching the vids and getting to see some AMVs that I wouldn't have normally stumbled across. Great work to all who entered and I look forward to seeing the winners announced at AWA next week. And I hope the creators get their vids posted soon after...I really want to know who made some of them.
Maybe i'm mistaken, but wasn't Pro voting closed as of yesterday?
