The deadlines for 2016 are now on Anime Weekend Atlanta's website, and there are no major changes in the contest rules this year. Submissions are not yet open, but we'll update this topic when they are.
Anime Weekend Atlanta
Please remember is Anime Weekend Atlanta is now a 4-day convention. The Video Art Track will be one of the first rooms to open, screening videos the moment we're ready on Thursday. Be sure to arrive early and keep an eye on AnimeMusicVideos.org for announcements of things like the editor's dinner.

Events in The Video Art Track
Beyond making great music videos, we want to ask you to bring us great event ideas. If there has ever been something you wanted to see in The VAT, please let us know. If you have ideas for new blocks of programming, or would like to host a panel on a video art-related subject, drop us a line at videoart@awa-con.com and we'll make some plans.
FantAWAsia
Our collaboration with the Georgia Philharmonic was amazing. While I know everyone was delighted and is excited to participate, we currently have no plans to do this again at this time. This is largely out of respect for the Georgia Philharmonic. The conductor and orchestra went above and beyond our greatest expectations to synchronize their playing with our videos, and they deserve a break.
We're not sitting on our laurels though. The Video Art Track is busy researching trends in video artist and orchestra collaboration. You can read a little about how others are accomplishing things even grander in this Wall Street Journal article.
You can expect a panel at Anime Weekend Atlanta in the fall, recapping what we accomplished, and detailing our plans for the future. At this time, we are having some highly technical discussions on how to engineer performances such as FantAWAsia. If you have thoughts on the matter, please share them at videoart@awa-con.com.
The Video Art Thunderdome
The participants in the Video Art Thunderdome have given us a resounding thumbs-up regarding the at-convention editing event. It went over so well, The VAT has promoted a staffer expressly into the role of managing and coordinating The Thunderdome.
I know Drew collected feedback from everyone, and we're all bouncing ideas around. It's weird to make post #1 so early, less than a month after AWA, because we're still reviewing feedback and making our grand plans.
I can say the following. The Video Art Thunderdome will return. It will not accept sign-ups at the convention. All teams must register in advance. How do you register? We don't know yet, we're still working on details like team-size and editing-time... but when we do know, we'll fill y'all in on the details here.
The Untitled Dance Video Project
The Music Video Dance has been a tradition since the very first Video Art Track at AWA 6. It needs a little freshening up. Something we want to do is encourage the creation of new dance music videos, especially to current mixes and dubs. We can't stay fresh and exciting playing tracks from even a handful of years ago.
We're looking into ways to present this need as an editor challenge. Again, it's a little early for firm plans, but something along the lines of the Dance Dance Revolution project is a possibility, perhaps the Anime Weekend Atlanta Music Video Mega-Mix? If you have any ideas, you can always reach out to us at videoart@awa-con.com.
Thank you.
As always, thank you all for your support of The Video Art Track and Anime Weekend Atlanta.
