Segmenting problem

Post by Rapture** » Thu Jul 05, 2007 2:37 pm

Okay... So here's problem :

Few days ago,I've had problem with AviSynth, but now that's solved. Right now I have problem with Segmenting. You see,I have these episodes that I want to segment (to use clipping in other words),and each time I render it,first segment turns out great, but all others have first 6 frames bugged. By saying bugged,I mean that they're not working. Blank frames. Junk. Trash. Call it whatever you want.

When I tried to use Lagarith,it turned out that I need hell lot of space :? Huffyuv takes even more!

The thing is - I use DivX. When I tried to render it as XviD (it was just to check) everything worked just fine, just that Vegas won't read it. Then I tried to use FourCC changer, and just when I changed it to DivX... Kaboom! First 6 frames go to hell.

The Coded I'm using is not fully DivX,it's XviD set to DivX FourCC. I already tried DivX codec itself, but then result the same, but with DivX itself, result even worse, since it's using the DX50 codec, which Vegas is not supporting.

I already tried most of my codecs, the one I didn't try is WMV9.

I came to fact that XviD is best for me right now,as unrestricted it may reach like 15k kbps, but right now it won't do like that,I already tried the settings. So what I need is help with best way out of this problem.

Please don't give me posts like - "Use lossless.""Don't use DivX or XviD files in your editing system!" and most important, don't put in here that damn blinking picture!

Use Lagarith or HuffYUV. Yes, they're big. But if you want total compatibility, that's what you'll have to deal with. Editing programs don't like DivX/XviD, and if you can't understand that then too fucking bad.

If you really don't have the space to make clips in Lagarith, then use either VFAPI or MakeAVIs (try what works better for you) to make fake AVI files. But be aware - it will slow down your editing. Especially since your PC seem to lack HD space it's safe to assume it lacks CPU power too.

You really don't need more than, say, 15 GB to make a video. You could probably get by with less than that, even.

I don't know what's that :|

Anyway,I'm already rendering it in Lagarith. Each EP takes up to 5GB,so when I'll finish to render 10,I'll just delete unnecessary clips.

So I guess my problem is solved.

I'll just post if I have any problems again..

Why even MAKE unnecessary clips?

As for VFAPI/MakeAVIs, what those do is they use an .avs file and create a "fake .avi" file which you can then import into your editing system. You can then essentially edit the .avs file directly...it takes up virtually no space, but like KoH said it's quite slow.
