Well, my sections are like my babies, and I would never dream of cutting them up. However, if you wouldn't have a problem with splitting your's, I certainly wouldn't. Quality wise, bum's track is fine as is, but I don't doubt that jasper would put something equally nice together with Gankutsuou for that second half. In short, it'll all work out which ever way it goes, just so long as nobody touches my babies. It's more between bum, jasper, and pen-pen to decide.bum wrote:Guys the point of me posting my final beta was to collectively decide weather jaspers idea to half my section should be followed through. Gona need at least a few opinions on the matter before I know what huffy to upload.

I like the imagery, but the editing is a little soft for such a high energy piece. But that's prolly the action editor in me talking.bum wrote:Final Beta - http://rapidshare.de/files/14645999/liquidM.wmv.html

Flint thats my main grip with cuting down my section. It's been a year and a half since this project started. Considering that editors seem to manage one full length (3-4 minute) video in 4-6 weeks, it just makes little sence that this vid is taking so long to complete. Even with all the extra managment required for a mep, it should all be complete within a year at most.

No man its between all of us. We're in this togeather. If one person fails, we all fail. If one editor quits, we all quit. Till this project is finished we'l live, eat, breed and die togeather.Coffee 54 wrote:It's more between bum, jasper, and pen-pen to decide.
Look at all the vids in my profile. I'm so good at editing slow stuff that I could do fast paced action if my life depended on itSongbird21 wrote:I like the imagery, but the editing is a little soft for such a high energy piece. But that's prolly the action editor in me talking.

Orgy? Man, now I really wish I'd gotten in on this.bum wrote:Till this project is finished we'l live, eat, breed and die togeather.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

It is, and I have the first 2 DVDs to prove it. THough the entire series is not yet available, its a relatively new domestic release.Kalium wrote:Last I knew, it was on domestic release.pen-pen2002 wrote:I'm actually a big fan of Samurai_7, but the last I heard it was only availible as fansubs so there might be a quality issue (Note: I may be wrong about this, it's been awhile.)
I am also a big fan of both the original Movie and the anime. (I mean "the master" is the definition of coolness itself ;p in both ;p )
Oh yes, I will probably start editing my part for this this week, and I expect I'd need around 2 weeks to do it, assuming work doesn't suddenly pick up at the shop causing me to work longer hours.
Let me just get this straight first though, Theme just needs to be journey related right, nothing else important to keep in mind here for this track? (Of course i'll try to match the feelings of having a journey and experiencing different things that I get from this part of the music) I'm both too lazy and too busy to read all the past 30 someodd pages of posts to see what direction all the discusions on themes and such went ;p

Ugh. Mechanical failure turned my 40 hour bus ride into a 3+ day odyssey
that included a layover from 7pm to 7am with nowhere to sleep but the floor. I made it eventually though and I am going to be spending the next 3 weeks working and skiing in Jackson Hole Wyoming.
Over the next couple of days I will re-install windows on my laptop and set it up as a dedicated After Effects machine. Then I will begin laying out the credit sequence and working on track transitions.
I know some of you are impatient and I will do my best to see that this project is completed in a timely manner. At the same time, I will not give any predictions and bring back the “Animasia Curse.” It will be done when it is done. Deadlines cost money, and since we have no money (or a line of people waiting to sign up) we can have no hard and fast deadlines. At the same time we have the opportunity to do our best work and answer only to each other; this is the blessing and the curse of hobbyist projects.
Sorry for the rant, moving on:
Bakadeshi, the “Journey” theme was my idea for that segment, you can use it or choose to ignore it as you see fit. The only requirement for the full length segments is that you have some sort of theme/structure or, ideally, a full fledged plot. You can focus one character or many, on events, on changes in character, or any number of other themes. What we want to avoid are segments with pure beat or mood synching. The more we can make the viewer feel like they are watching a story or collection of stories, the more we will have accomplished the original goal of this project and the more it will stand out against the hordes of other MEPs being released.
As for the discussed section split, if Jasper wants to do it and Bum doesn’t mind then I say go for it. I very much doubt that it will affect the release date since Jasper is one of our faster editors and there is still a fair amount of editing and compiling to be done.
Oto: I still think that ~2:00 is the best place for the title. The text I had in my beta was a placeholder for a much prettier(and more animated) title. Do you want to try to integrate the title into your segment, or do you want me to build it afterwards, or do you have a different idea altogether?
Gotta go. I’ll post in a bit.

Let's just say I haven't been thinking much in any direction except linguistics for the past day, so I really don't have any concrete ideas. 2:00 sounds good to me. It has to be somewhere in the general area after the end of my 1st track anyway, going by the musical cues there.
I'll be looking more into this over the weekend.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Okay then, if there are no objections then I will start as soon as Gankutsuou DVDs 2 and 3 arrive in the mail.pen-pen2002 wrote:As for the discussed section split, if Jasper wants to do it and Bum doesn’t mind then I say go for it. Hi all. Sad Coffee here. There's a good chance I'll be losing internet access real soon. If and when that happens I will be unable to make regular updates here. I will be able to visit my brother and friends for periodic access and I should be able to send betas from time to time. Well then... I guess I'll see you around.
