Cyborg 009

This is the official Cyborg 009 (AKA Cyborg Soldier 009) discussion thread. I am not completely sure which series the requestor was referring to, but I will assume he was talking about the recent remake series.

I remember watching this on Toonami, it was interesting to say the least, but some of their "abilities" so were stupid.

We can't think of anything good for the black dude, so he's just really good at swimming. I couldn't keep much interest with it as it went on.

I did like it, but it was a while ago and I wonder when it stopped showing it on Toonami.

I didn't realize there was a remake. I remember watching this 20-some years ago when I was in Japan. Not sure which season I was watching but I'm willing to swear their outfits were blue and not red. Only caught a few episodes but it's one of my favorites. I'll have to look for the remake. Are the characters basically the same, then?

I remember that show!
It used to be on, and then suddenly it just stopped. I liked it a lot. I wish it was still on.

Yeah, I miss this series, too. I remember the time stop episode, which was VERY interesting. How the main guy (can't remember his name) was able to save the day even though time was stopped.

I was at WalMart the oher day, and I saw a DVD of the new Cyborg 009 for sale for $1.00! ...but I didn't have the extra dollar to get it. I am going to try going back there sometime this week and hope that I can still find it in the DVD bin.

Hm, now that's an episode I don't recall offhand. I guess it's time to watch that series again. Shame that my favorite character, Jet, the guy with the jet legs and big nose is such a jerk sometimes. My favorite episode was where he took off to be on his own, then met up with the lady with the little boy. He showed that he could be nice, but still had some 'well, you have to be strong on your own and fight, etc.' without us really getting to know why he felt like that. At least that's the feeling I got from the episode.

My favorite character was the chef, sinve he could breathe fire, and he was always hungry. Aside from that one episode, and a few scenes, I can't remember the show much anymore, which sucks. About the only thing I DIDN'T like about the show was the fact that they sometimes had to fight their friends, like I kinda remember an episode where they had to kill Cyborg 006 (the big, tall, fat guy), but I don't really remember why they had to. That made me cry a little because I think they were really good friends. Still a decent anime to be sure.

waah! I think he was Cyborg 013, though. 006 is the chef I think.

You're right, seems almost every plot line involved killing someone one of the group knew from the past or a friend.
Spoiler :
Joe runs into some old friends from his orphanage (I think it was an orphanage) and it turns out they are being controlled by the Black Ghost organization and try to kill him.
I may give myself the series for Christmas ... :D

Same here man!!!

For a minute, after watching each and every episode I would get to see where this all would lead till suddenly, "Blank". It was all gone!

I don't recall Toonami airing the final episode of the series nor showing what else occured at that time. All I know is that it has been a while since it last aired, so I'm starting to miss this already. Well, this event reminds me about some of the other anime series I've seen cut off by Toonami.

I wonder where I could find the DVDs.
