Ghost in the Shell: SAC -- Episode 24 (Annihilation)

Post by GloryQuestor » Sat Apr 23, 2005 11:39 pm

Did anyone see that coming?

In case you didn't see the episode tonight:

Spoiler
Section 9 is now a dead section, and after an invasion on the order of the Prime Minister, everyone has split up: Aramaki turned his back on all the members. Togusa was stuck in endless interrogation about the faux Laughing Man mission from Episode 23. Paz and Burma were caught by the mercenaries sent in to destroy the Section 9 members (though their fates are unknown). The status of the other four (Saito, Ishikawa, Kusanagi, and Batou) are currently unknown, although Kusanagi has hinted that she will "modify her memories" while Batou looks to be going on his own investigation.

(I do know where the idea came from -- mainly it's an slight adaptation of what occurs in the next-to-last issue of the manga. Although, unlike the manga, they are more or less still alive even though Section 9 is presently history.)

I didn't see it coming. Not at ALL. The entire episode I just kinda stared at my TV with big eyes and an open mouth.

It was like the STN-J (Witch Hunter Robin) all over again...

That episode is on the only Witch Hunter Robin DVD I have in my collection.

You're right, it does remind me of that, also.

I can't wait until next Saturday to see where this is going. Who knows, maybe the Puppet Ma... I mean, the "Laughing Man" will come out and save them.

The Puppet Man isn't in GitS: SAC 'cause the director wanted to keep the Major in the series, methinks. Unforunantly this Saturday is the las new episodes for both GitS and FMA until the fall. Damn Adult Swim! :x

That's not such a bad thing, though. SAC and FMA re-runs will probably be shown on the weekdays during the summer.

Also, the summer line-up looks interesting on its own:

Being replaced by Samurai Champloo, Paranoia Agent, and s-CRY-ed sound pretty good.

Also (to keep on topic somewhat), 2nd GIG will be starting up in September... nice. :D

Well, I just looked at the schedule myself... is "Stand Alone Complex" the 26th episode?

Adult Swim hasn't gotten far enough in the scheduling yet, so FMA is still up in the air. They might bump it forwards or backwards with new episodes, or just rerun the old ones on the Mon-Thu blocks with the other shows.

For the first season of SAC, yes, Stand Alone Complex is the last episode. (Actually, Adult Swim's website has episode reviews, which you can see by clicking on the individual show name, then Episode Guide.)

As I mentioned above, 2nd GIG (aka "Stand Alone Complex Season 2") will start up in September.

I thought GitS: SAC was only 26 episodes long in total? But you're telling me that there is 26 episodes for the first season and... 26 episodes (?) for the second? So... confused... @_@

And FMA is taking a break only because they're still in the process of dubbing it.

Technically, Stand Alone Complex is the name of the first season, and it is 26 episodes. 2nd GIG is the second season.
