you know she rigged that. she probably willed for her show to get awards just so she can spread the word about the SOS club.angelx03 wrote:I found this rather amusing:

Kyoto Animation reports their Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya TV anime has won top honors in 2 prize categories ("Best motion picture of the year and TV division" and "Radio Kansai Prize (theme song prize)") at the 11th Animation Kobe.
Now, is the "Best Motion Picture of the Year" award referring to that film episode in episode 1?
...yeah there's more to it, but still....

Like how the 2006 Anime Saimoe Tournament round where Yuki went against Mikuru had utter chaos for voting?Bakadeshi wrote:you know she rigged that. she probably willed for her show to get awards just so she can spread the word about the SOS club.angelx03 wrote:I found this rather amusing:

I have finally been assimilated.
Episode 1 made me go gradually from "omg this uses all the stupid anime cliches and is so crappily-presented
" to "omg this uses ever all the stupid anime cliches and is so crappily-presented
". I was nearly on the floor by the end of it.
Episode 2 made me all warm and fuzzy, being quite familiar with being the sorts of people involved (having always been the odd kid in class, etc.).
I'm so identifying with all of them at the same time

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

And ack, when they (explicitly) introduced the whole, you know, supernatural thing in ep 3, I thought it was completely unneccesary, but now by ep. 4 it's actually getting rather interesting
Anyway, I won't spam this thread. Will talk when I really get somewhere in the series
Excellent stuff, this

That discribes my viewing of episode one exactly. I even had to stop part way through to make sure I had the right show. But by the end I was rollin'. The moment Shamisen started talking I just about died from the funny/ultra cute overload.Otohiko wrote:Episode 1 made me go gradually from "omg this uses all the stupid anime cliches and is so crappily-presented" to "omg this uses ever all the stupid anime cliches and is so crappily-presented

btw: Anybody from this thread feel like beta testing a Yuki vid? It's got Yuki in it.

Oh my god.
I can't shut up.
Watched episode 5, I am sold on this. This is far better than anime that I don't really want to mention, but people might guess the sorts of titles I'm referring to
Whereas other 'deep' shows often take a drab, depressing environment that makes very direct allusions to history or mythology, this thing just throws them out the window, takes an ENTERTAINING and genuinely funny outer shell, and just casually throws out likewise genuine but unpretentious conceptual depth. Whereas some shows will do all they can to convince you "omg we're serious about this", this one is currently trying to do its best making me think it's all just random badly-structured nonsense, and yet oh-so-subtly it's eating up my brain. I'm already clicking in connections to various mysticisms and cosmologies I've read about.
Gah. Help. My mind is getting fucked in a way it never was by an anime before T________T

He hasn't even hit the "good" episodes ('cept for the first one) yet
At least, imo
