And it was bad. Almost no sync, just a lot of scenes. I know what feeling you aimed for, but the execution was very weak. Sorry.

Ummm, constructive...

Okay - the quality was fairly good, there was almost no sync and the build up was in the very last third, so the first two thirds were pretty dull, because it wasn't clear what you are aiming for (and this non.-aiming wasn't a theme of the AMV).

It might have worked as a mood AMV, but for that it lacked some better sync, especially when Jarré uses pretty strong and regular beats. I'd recommend watching this:

It's more upbeat (a lot, it's more of dance), but it works with sync a lot better.

for a first amv, its not a bad attempt. But I think that the song you used demands a lot of experience to edit to it.

For example, the beginning of the song is very dark and dreary. So the scenes that you choose for the beginning are absolutely perfect, but the color in the background doesn't give off the the same feeling of the song. A more experienced editor (one that's far more experienced than myself) would have altered the color, contrast, and saturation of the clip, and made the scene give off a bleak and hopeless feeling.

Also, a more experienced editor would have added in various choreographed effects and scenes changes in order to hit the beats that are in the song. Whenever a song has a surplus of beats, ignoring them or not not editing your video to them makes your scene look dull to your audience. Because of this, your audience can easily loose interest from about 2:00 - 4:00. But after 4:00, my opinion of the AMV started to drastically improve for some reason :-)

And one more thing. Your song is 6 minutes long. An AMV really needs to be intense in order to keep someones attention for that long. It may have been better if you had shortened the song a bit.

But despite of what I just said, I really do think that you gave this a nice attempt. Its just that you picked a song that demanded a lot more experience..........and Adobe After Effects.........and probably Sony Vegas as well.

In terms of overall AMVs, I can only give this a 2.1 / 5
But In terms of first AMVs, I'll give you a 3.5 /5

I hope you enjoyed making this, and I look forward to seeing your next AMV
