It's interesting to me to see the varied opinions on my video, ranging from "teriffic" to "meh". I guess depending on your point of view, you liked it a lot, or just thought it was nothing special. At least I haven't heard "eww this video sucks" yet
When I started this video back in March, I set out to make a good, effective Dragon Ball Z action-driven video. I had the song and I needed the footage. I basically planned this thing out to take some elements from most effective action videos, and also incorporated some of my own concepts of what should be synched to what, and how to "phrase" different parts of the song together. My primary goal was of course to make finals in whatever contest I would first submit it to -- originally this was supposed to be ready by ACen, and I decided that it still needed work. I kept pushing back my deadline until I discovered that the Otakon deadline would be up in June, so I finally pushed it to finish by the Otakon deadline. I'm very glad that I did. The secondary goal was to prove to myself that in this day and age, long after DBZ has left Cartoon Network, and long after the amateur AMVers have moved on to other things, I can still make a good, effective, attention-grabbing Dragon Ball Z video in 2008. I think I've accomplished those two goals. I think this video has become my favorite video I've ever made since "Ominae Will Die Another Day".
Once upon a time, some people made good DBZ action-driven AMVs. Over time as new anime series have come out, fewer good DBZ action videos have been made. I just set out to tell everybody that I can still make a good DBZ action AMV. In some way, "Everything Old Is New Again."
Whether you liked it, or just mildly enjoyed it -- or maybe if you hated it -- either way, I'm glad you watched the video. At least you took the time out to watch my work. Thanks.
