Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Through the Years and Far Away (Otakon'08 entry)

Post by dwchang » Mon Aug 11, 2008 5:30 pm

I'm surprised by the lack of Otakon video announcements, so I guess I'll start and hope the rest of you follow. Anyway, here's my entry from this year's Otakon 2008 AMV Contest:

Alternate titles for the video include "Sad Girl in Space" and "Ken Leee, tuliba diba douchoo."

If you're interested in all the details, feel free to read the description. In short it's a story-driven, romance AMV, which I guess is not a radical departure for me :P. At the same time, I wanted to try and tell a story (slightly different than the actual anime) and hope that it's clear to even those who have not seen the show.

...and yes, I'm about six years late on using this Makoto Shinkai film. I imagine in 2014 I'll make a 5 centimeters video like everyone else.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy my return to 80's sap (well not sap, more like sad, but you get the point).

Pretty good stuff. Solid editing, theme was there, nice mood. I generally dug it, 5/5.

Loved this video at Otakon, but I had to take a moment to remember the movie to get what was going on (it's been a while since I had seen it). Editing job was stellar, though.

NOTE: I'm told I need one of these, because people will start bitching and suing otherwise.

This is one of those "you had to be there" things (which, I am told, is now synonymous with "inner circle" -- obviously we can't have inner squares or any other sort of inner convex polygons, and for God's sake we can't have inner concave objects of any sort, as that would obviously be approval of the hegemonic AMV patriarchy) and by "there", I definitely don't mean "Otakon", because I wasn't there. If you don't get it, ignore it and let me have some cheap laughs to justify my pathetic life, which of course pales before the imposing prominence of your mighty existence, dear Reader. Alternatively, you could choose not to ignore this post and flame me for "polluting the thread" or something equally inane. Your choice.
