  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

My First AMV - Brothers in Arms

Post by MusoukaProductions » Mon Aug 04, 2008 11:58 pm

This is the first AMV I've ever made. Please take a look and tell me how to improve my utter suckage.

Thanks to all on IRC that helped me out along the way.

I liked it very much. It's short and to the point. Very dramatic, almost cried a bit at the ending. Very good for a first video.

Hmm pretty tasteful for a first vid. The vid could have used some fades at the end (opposed to straight cuts). Hehe keep moving :P

I enjoyed it actually. I don't know much about that anime but it reminds of the old way of fighting, but more technologically advanced XD

I thought the whole amv had a good feel to it, and the anime and the music (and your choice of scenes) went good together. I rather liked what you did with the ending too, a solider seeing all his fellow men dead beside him. I agree ith Meteor though...you could of used some fades. When a scene suddenly switches to one to the other, it gives away some of the feeling of the amv. At least with a fade, a watcher can be like "oh...a slow and dramatic fade will reveal the next scene." And it will give them more of a heads up on what's to come.

Overall I enjoyed it. Like said before, it was short and sweet and to the point. Good job to your IRC buddies as well. Having people help you with an amv is awesome XD

Thanks for the comments MD and Matt. I experimented with some crossfades at the ending which didn't turn out well. I didn't really try with just regular fades, oh well, next time.
