Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Bleach - Animal I Have Become

Post by AceD » Thu Jul 24, 2008 3:29 am

my first amv, i downloaded sony vegas pro at 9pm out of the sheer annoyance of the bad videos on a certain streaming site.. thinking...how hard can it be? why are they so bad?

well it is quite hard :P but i think i did ok considering i looked at no guides, just used my head and started it - took 10hours through the night

feedback containing the good and bad points would be nice, so i know what areas to find information about and work on

thanks

Better than I would have thought from someone starting straight of from youtube. Just a few things though.

1. Yeah, you probably should read through some of the guides, mostly for quality reasons. Mpeg really isn't used that much these days 'cause there's superior containers for AMVs. You should probably learn a few techinques for clean up your footage, it doesn't bother me as much, but some people won't watch an amv unless it's sparkly clean. Also, while you did a good job at hiding the subs, they did appear at one spot.

2. Your editing was decent, but there was a few general problems. There was alot of lipflap, which was a little annoying, but mostly it was the fact that from 0:31 all the way to the end you had overlayed footage. which made me have to strain to choose which track to watch the whole way through. In alot of places it felt like a big mush of footage. Other than that there was a fair amount of run-on scene that made it feel lacking.

Overall not bad, but still 2/5. Better than a fair amount of youtube amvs. And at least you realize they have something lacking. I know you working from a trial, so all this advice may be ~meh~, but......~meh~

ok thanks for that :) ...yea there was on bit of pesking subbing i couldnt get rid of, but ive found out i could of hid that with virtual dub, so ill know to sort that next time.

I did get abit carried away with the overlaying footage, but having no knowledge i needed to figure out a few techniques and focus on them, took alot of editing trying to get them to blend abit mind you so they both wasnt overpowering each other (it did in bits)

am gonna spend some time reading up and making shortclips to practice, i figured reading up first ( while having 0 experience would be bad, since id have no idea what the tutorial is going on about ). thats what i think anyway!
