Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Stolen

Post by Pwolf » Sat Jul 05, 2008 5:24 pm

I mean... not... Stolen. (only two people will get that... I should've just made the subject "I Suck" instead)

This was an experiment to see how one would take an hd-dvd source and make it usable for editing. Lets just say a 200gb huffyuv did the trick :P (as opposed to 14gb files on the hd-dvd) At the moment i haven't been able to find a feasible method (using aviysnth that is) for using the original files without converting them. I'll probably experiment some more when i have the time and the technology gets better.

The copy on the org is 848x480. I'm uploading a 720p version as well as 1080p. I will give those out to anyone who is interested.

Holy Shit ASHES dIVIDE O:

/gets

EDIT: I like it :)
I'm the type of person who likes beat sync and i wished for somemore here...
Anyway the video catched the mood of the song quite good most of the time (few exceptions like in the beginning when they were shooting around with the guns, that didnt fit at all imo). I would have definetly enjoied it more when i'd have seen this appleseed movie (gonna keep an eye out for it since i like the other movie).
I kinda was expecting a "moody" video when i saw your name and ASHES dIVIDE, btw thanks for using it! 4/5 feels right for this video. And yes I would like to have a HD version please! I'm going back to enjoy the video again now... 200gb huffy ftw xD

EDIT: Kinda agree with Scott. It was more about mood sync than anything else. I was hoping for more beat sync and perhaps a little more action - or better placed action anyway; some of the action scenes felt pretty weird because of the song, especially in the beginning - Not really sure what to think about the mood sync though. Perhaps I've been listening to this song too much to enjoy this combo. It felt distractingly disconnected at times.. The cut to black in the end was awesome!

3/5

That was a pretty sweet video.
I personally liked your editing and sync in general, as it felt just right for the song and the concept you were aiming for. Good use of black/white effect (assuming it was not in the movie already, I haven't seen it yet), smooth transitions and such...
Overall, it's a solid and well-executed AMV, but not really something I would watch more than twice.

I like it! Personally with this song, I loved how you went for the mood instead of just random beat sync like alot of people would have gone for, I thought that your editing was perfect for the mood of the song and anime. *upup*

I also like the song edit, I think it works just fine, and the length is good. :3

(and you're a meanie with that thread title! Although I'm not disappointed.)
