Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Naruto AMV - Hinata Character Profile - First Release

Post by meiji_revival » Fri Jul 07, 2006 11:49 am

Yes, it's a dreaded first video. My apologies. XD

Hinata's Strength

You may notice that, although I put quite a bit of uneducated effort into this one (read: many hours spent pulling my hair out while muttering, "WTF?"), there was very little skill to be added. I bumbled my way through it the best I could.

Anyway, I thought I'd post here asking for some constructive feedback, and the answers to a few questions:

1. Which area would be the wisest to focus on learning/improving first?
2. Is there a way to break a clip down into individual frames?
3. How on earth do I remove sub-titles?
4. Are all tutorials generally created equal? (If not, got any recommendations?)

Thank you all for bearing with me and my first video. Your time and tolerance is appreciated. :)

Based on your video information, making a conscious effort at timing would be a good start.

Based on the video itself, I think the first priority is cutting your clips into shorter sections.
2. Is there a way to break a clip down into individual frames?
In WMM2 itself? I don't know. You can use VirtualDub to trim video files, if your bar to getting a better editing program is a lack of funds and not the unwillingness to spend money on something you won't use. But since you're using fansubs, I wouldn't think you'd find this an issue.
3. How on earth do I remove sub-titles?
Buy the frigging DVDs.
4. Are all tutorials generally created equal? (If not, got any recommendations?)
Read them all anyway. The EADFAG will take you through the whole process, but it's also a lot to take in if you're unfamiliar with editing. It'll teach you how to use AviSynth, which is the thing you'll be using to cut clips and frames in VirtualDub.

Don't let this guy discourage you. The R2 DVDs have NO english in them... though the uncut DVD just came out with the first 13 episodes but not much you can do with just the first 13 episodes. Oh yeah Wisper of the Beast used fansubs and it's the number one video on the site. yeah..

"Thou shalt not use downloaded video footage to make AMVs."

I think that if you're going to use footage you haven't paid for, then you should learn to deal with it yourself. There is also a 'how to remove subtitles' guide on the site.
