Love Hina - Mood Rings
Well, second experimental type thing:
Naru/Keitaro Romantic Comedy type deal
As noted in my commentary, though Vic's guide is fabulously thorough, I'm really just lazy at this point to bother so there's a couple fuzzy parts.
Though who knows what future endeavours shall bring ^_^
Hopefully 'twil be enjoyed ^^

Good song, right show choice.
Small amount of advice:
1)One Calm down the slow cuts would have worked here
pasing is important in amvs
2)High resoulation , the blocks turned me off a little
try a different output format or pick the best possible WMV
settings possible.
3) WHite flashs don't do it , please no I made the mistake
thinking there cool you'll end up hating them later. Black
flashes or null-space will never go outta style.
4) Ether do lip snyc or don't ... I know love hina dose it randomly
sometimes.. So, this might not be your fualt..
By the way this is not ment to hurt just explaning so stuff
Thats it

That wasn't terrible at all
Idea-wise - well, let's face it, nothing entirely original.
As far as audio-visual match and mood sync - it's entirely appropriate and tasteful (duh, the video title has 'mood' in it, so it has to be good).
On the level of editing - on the one hand, I like the simple, uncomplicated approach - and those nice fade-to-white transitions I absolutely love (usually white flashes and such end up a detraction, but here these quick fades to white really help out the logical flow and look right). On the other hand, the sync - both in terms of transitions and 'actions' tends to be somewhat hit and miss and generally unorganized. There were moments when a nice more-or-less-literal sync to a lyric line made me smile. There were times when a nice beat in the music or a guitar chord really matched something happening on screen, or went along with that nice fade-to-white transition. But this wasn't the case with every nice beat, chord, transition, or Narupunch; nor have I detected many organized patterns in which they maybe possibly ought to have occurred.
Anyways, that'd be my primary suggestion on editing improvement - organization and consistency.
On the pure technical level -
Pro - good sound quality, obviously DVD-sourced footage that is clean
Con - said clean DVD-sourced footage not properly deinterlaced, WMV codec still doesn't like me (or is that reverse?), and perhaps in places, combined with my maybe-crappy decoder, it varied anywhere from looking excellent to looking discolorated, macroblocky, and I-don't-know-what-else
***
I'm seeing technical improvements, so I'd say you're on the right track with #2 now.

Hey, I should paste all that into an op or something

Mood Rings has got to be one of my favourite songs by Relient K... I was even thinking about doing a video to that song with Kare Kano, but I ended up dropping the idea. Mainly because I don't have any Kare Kano footage and I already made a Relient K vid.
Some of the scene selection was pretty good (I have to admit that Naru's punches worked pretty well for the song), but the timing did seem pretty random, and with all the mouth-flapping going on, I couldn't tell whether you were trying to do lip-sync or not. And overall, the editing seemed choppy. But the idea was good.

^^'' I'm glad I attempted to mess with the guitar chords, though drum beats still cause me much frustration, I'm working on it. Ya, it definately wasn't consistent, there were times when I tried to synch something up but it either didn't work well with the clip or I thought it looked worse. I ended up cutting out a lot of flashes and whatnot.Otohiko wrote:There were times when a nice beat in the music or a guitar chord really matched something happening on screen, or went along with that nice fade-to-white transition. But this is encouraging, I like feedback.
Hehe, it was that vid entirely which led to my searching for Relient K.silver_moon wrote:Mood Rings has got to be one of my favourite songs by Relient K... And argh, the mouth flapping, I didn't realize how distracting it was until after I'd watched it for about the third time, I was trying to concentrate a lot with the timing, not even considering lip synch, I noticed a couple clips that almost seemed to match up but since I wasn't intending it in the first place, I took off the lip synch option for ops and whatnot. Then I realized how a lot of Naru's movements almost synched ~_~ That was completely unintentional.

Nonono, those were actually very good touches I sort of forgot to mention in there. I did like them and they looked subtle and appropriate enough (in fact, I thought the fireworks and the scenes immediately flanking it were a highlight here).Moonlight Soldier wrote:

But there was some nasty artifacting and such which may or may not be inherent to the encode
