Brand new: "Sakura is Useless" Music Video
Hi all. I finished my very first AMV, from Naruto entitled "Sakura is Useless." It is done to Depeche Mode's "Useless." I am hoping to submit it very soon. I am probably going to put it in some anime con contests because I'm pretty confident it's good...
I guess I have to wait 2 weeks for me being able to upload my video to this site, so does anyone want to watch it now? If you're willing to give me some place to host that would be awesome as well. I promise that you won't be disappointed with this video! Anyway, if you want to chat online, please use my AIM name or just email me. Thanks.

Ok, since there's no "edit" button in this forum, I'm forced to double post.
I am having trouble uploading this video to the site. It's really not exactly clear on how to do this, or maybe I'm just not understanding it right...I know people are out there because you're looking at this topic, so could you please help me?
I'm clicking on "Upload video"
When i fill out all the info and stuff, and i get to the part that says "Links" (part 4) it says I'm in error:
Anime listed for the video.
Music listed for the video.
A premiere date in the past.
Correct any of these that are in error and you can then link to the video.
I list the anime. I list the music. The thing that bothers me is the "premiere date" because today or just recently would be the premiere date. Is this what's causing me to have problems? Do I have to have it posted somewhere else before I get it posted up on AMVs? Does it have to be posted in 2 weeks? What am I doing wrong? This is where I'm lost. I leave the rest to you.

*cough* okay, i found out my problem. I was checking the boxes next to the music and the anime b/c I thought you had to before you could go onto the next step (it deletes them if you do this obviously) Well I got everything taken care of now. I feel better for figuring it out on my own anyway. sorry for the triple post. and please watching it if you're a Naruto fan! Thanks.

for a first video, and maybe even not for a first video, that's not half bad
i really like the song you used, and you chose scenes very nicely
this is definately a video that i'd look forward to as a remaster
once i adjusted myself to ignore the subtitles, i noticed all the actual timing that you did with the cuts, good job with that, the first about 1/3 or half of the video was a little bit off with the beat syncing with the cuts, but for the most part it was good
the part that had the best sync was the memory of Sakura and Ino as little kids meeting each other and starting their rivalry, good job there
i really liked that scene in ur video with the Hitake falling to the ground after Sakura cuts her hair, i know that you kinda had to do it that way since in the anime it's not one scene, it's divided, but it still looked look in the video
*for the remaster (if you intend to do it) i think it'd be awesome if you could find a way to use still shots and re-create that little effect you used on the Hitake, i know it's basically fading in and out, but it'd be kule to see it throughout the video
... also remove subs for remaster, try getting dvds... by any means necessary
ending wasn't too bad, but maybe a better shot of Sakura would work imo

Daio Kaji: Thanks for all your wonderful comments. It's nice to know someone actually watched it, let alone actually took the time to write something nice about it. I am happy you noticed all the little things that it took to make this video special. As for remastering, I'm a little short on the moolah right now so I doubt it's going to be happening in the near future. Why do subtitles bother everyone so much? Is it alright to say that I have them there purposefully as a part of the video? At least the part with all the Sasuke-kun's...well, thanks again.

Its because anime fans in general have become accustamed to automatically reading subtitles in fansubs and Official subtitled anime (especially since most of us won;t even bother with the dub) so when we see them in AMVs we automatically try to read them. and It distracts us from the AMV. especially when the subs are saying something diferent from what the song/story in the AMV is saying. Its an instinctual thing that we have to fight to subdue when we watch amvs with subs. Ofcourse if the subs were put in ther for the purpose of the AMV they are acceptable. Like is the case in Inthesto's Fighting Flowers vid.Infinity's End wrote: Why do subtitles bother everyone so much? Is it alright to say that I have them there purposefully as a part of the video?
But then you have to put the subs in yourself, because if it looks like it was in the source material to begin with, then we again automatically associate it as not supposed to be part of the video, and thus are fighting to ignore them. If that made any sense whatsoever.
In a nutshell, Subs = bad, unless they are 100% in harmony with the song/story of the video.

also, sometimes i start thinking that people are syncing subtitles to the beat, and that's just silly.. SILLY, SAYS I!!!!!
[subtitle sync would be interesting for a video

so yeah, subs complicate things with their whole 'read me' vibe, so it's a lot more acceptable to use subtitle-less material unless you intend to use the subs in a creative way
