Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Katsucon 9 "Best Action" Winner- "Dark Metrop

Post by Ashyukun » Thu Apr 17, 2003 1:46 pm

This (and my other vids) have actually been up for a while now on the 'Carrot, but I decided to wait until more people could actually download from it before making the announcement. It is only available via local DL, so those who contributed to the 'Donut/Carrot should be able to download it immediately, and everyone else starting on Monday. I'd wait to post the announcement until closer to then, but I'll be gone at AnimeBoston for the weekend.

Dark Metropolis

This was my entry to Ohayocon and Katsucon this year, which ended up winning "Best Action" at Katsucon due to some burp in the logic of the universe ;p (actually, it probably owes more to VicBond007's "Cowboy Bebop 007" taking so many of the non-category awards that they likely decided to remove it from the in-category decision 8) ). It is a trailer setting footage from Osamu Tezuka's Metropolis to the Dark City theatrical trailer, and let me have lots of fun with text in After Effects.

This video was my first AMV (even though technically the Mission : Improbable Project segment was released before it) after a roughly 6-year hiatus in AMV making, and my first foray into a lot of the techniques and programs that either didn't exist or simply weren't used when I got started in the mid-90's. Hopefully you'll enjoy watching it close to as much as I enjoyed making it (except for the fog... I hate fog... fog is the spawn of Satan  ). Please let me know if you like it (or don't), even if it's just with the 'stars' rating system! Thanks!
