I started editing this in early 2021 for the first RICE contest, but then I started editing another video and set it aside for later. I didn't plan on waiting three years to go back to it, sometimes things just buried under all the other video ideas I keep getting. At the beginning of this year my mental state had been clouded by a lot of negativity and, lets just say "frustration" brought about by some current world events (atrocities), and I was feeling helpless and hopeless. So I decided to watch my favorite Ghibli film (they always put me in a good mood) and remembered the video I was planning to make with it. Princess Mononoke happens to cover a lot themes pertaining to my own frustrations with the current state of the world (i.e. unnecessary war/death, misdirected hatred, tyranny fueled by greed and irrational fears, etc, etc..) so why not let myself vent and "see with eyes unclouded" with imagery of nature raging against the cruelty of mankind with a harsh yet poignantly beautiful Nordic folk/black metal track?
I'm feeling a lot better mentally, so I guess it worked!
