The Somnambulist [Bob Dylan, Boy and the Heron AMV]

"ALL I'VE BEEN FORMS THE DRONE
WE SING THE REST
OH, YOUR GENEROUS LOAN TO ME
YOUR CRIPPLING INTEREST"
~ Black Country New Road, "Basketball Shoes"

Boy and the Heron is the coolest movie to come out in so long and it hit me deep, but honestly I wasn't jonesing to make an AMV of it right away (unlike The First Slam Dunk which I'm still eagerly awaiting a digital copy of). A big part of that for me is, similar to what I've articulated earlier about using The Wind Rises in my Dear Darling vid, Ghibli movies are always so locked in and intentional with their imagery, and also so tonally defined in their artstyle, that I find it intimidating to try and abstract them into my own vid. So I gotta find some way to really mess with em to feel like I'm doing something worthwhile, and then lo and behold while idly surfin I found a Turkish camrip of Boy and the Heron. The thought of doing a camrip AMV suddenly really spoke to me, and I was loving Bob Dylan's beautiful cover of "The Water Is Wide" that recently dropped on the Time Out of Mind Sessions boxset, so it all seemed to just click together.

It's about love and death (not Love and Theft!), what else is new! I'm excited about it, and I hope you can get excited about it too! And if you haven't seen Boy and the Heron yet and it's still playing in a theater near you, GO SEE IT!!
