Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Splat!

Post by TnAdct1 » Mon Apr 04, 2016 10:55 am

With the Tekko 2016 finalists announced, it's now safe for me to post my latest video, which I completed for the contest, but failed to make the finals. Hopefully, the video will find some love here.

I had this concept since last summer, with the Tekko 2016 contest giving me the reason to complete it.

really cool idea. I haven't actually played Splatoon, but I smiled when I realized what you were doing with it  . I do think that you should have picked a more notable song from the game though. If I hadn't looked at your song info beforehand, I wouldn't have gotten the concept while watching it. Using "Squid Sisters" would have made the concept easier to grasp (since that song is known by people that haven't even played the game). Or you could have actually used one of the English covers of "Once Minute Remains". Having the viewer understand the lyrics would have helped sell the concept as well.

In response to a couple of things:

Choice of song: I went with One Minute Remains because to me, it reflected one of the main selling points of the game (and the main inspiration for the video): the 4-on-4 multiplayer battles.

Lyrics: Quite honestly, the way the lyrics are sung in the regular version of the song, some people (like me) may assume that it wasn't someone singing, but rather some electric instrument playing in the background.
