First Ever AMV

Post by chataolauj » Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:49 pm

Hello everyone! I'm new to this site, and I'm also new at making AMVs.

This is the first AMV that I have ever made, so it's not great, but I'm proud of it though. I would like some feedback on this AMV. The feedback will help me plan for the next AMV that I'm going to make, so please leave a comment and I'll reply to every comment. I'll even take bad comments as well; anything helps. You can leave a comment on here, or you can just leave a comment on YouTube; anywhere works.

The story of this AMV is about young Kakashi going to sleep, then dreaming about a fight with Obito in the past and future. The fight of him and Obito fighting as kids is just a regular dream, and the future him fighting future Obito is more like a premonition.

Hope you enjoy!

Considering this being your first, it's okay I guess... not bad at all. You just have to do some more editing rather than throwing few long scenes of them just fighting it out none stop. You first have to grasp the concept of sync, and learn to use variety of different scenes to make it interesting to watch. Keep working on it dude, you'll eventually start picking up things and get better.

It wasn't bad at all. It was your first so of course better timing, more variety in clips would make it better.

Naruto is very popular among AMVs right now so maybe trying something less common.

Thanks for the feedback, but yeah, you're right. The fighting scene is excessively long. I just wanted to wing it for my first AMV, and not learn any technical editing from tutorials; just to see how I would do. I appreciate your feedback, and thanks for watching.

More timing....could you elaborate? O.o And yes, more clips of different scenes would've been nice that I've rewatched it several times after finishing it. Also, I don't watch too many animes, so the animes that I do watch didn't really have a hand-to-hand combat scene that I liked, and a hand-to-hand combat song that worked with the song on the video. For my next one though, I am trying to find a less common anime/anime movie that people haven't worked on as much. Anyways, I appreciate your feedback, and thanks for watching.

They're trying to say:

Don't slap a clip on to a timeline and let it sit there for 45 seconds. 99% of the time, if your'e using an upbeat song (And you are) if a clip is longer then 5 seconds, chances are, it's too long.

Try making shorter AMV's if your just starting up so you can get the hang of it, also try cutting out logos and such from the clip so it looks cleaner. GJ though i enjoyed it!

I was actually trying to make this short as possible when I first started editing, but I was thinking that the average AMV is at least 3mins, so that's why I extended it. Also, I don't know how to effectively take out the watermarks(logo) without it making my video look weird, so I just left it like a noob would. I'm glad you enjoyed it though! Nice to read comments like that every time (: I'll definitely check out your videos too.

About the making shorter AMVs....

It is your choice, but I usually split my AMVs up into segments and usually take at least a month to complete them. It's more of a project then.

Short AMVs are good for something quick, to practice. Join MEPs on Youtube even.
