Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

This is an AMV that I submitted to Anime Weekend Atlanta's Professional Awards Contest in 2014...and it won Best Artistic Endeavor!

I began this video about a year ago with the concept for the climax roughly completed long before the rest of the video. Later on closer to the contest deadline I got most of it finished in a single weekend before getting some reactions to it and tightening other aspects of it up to submit to AWA for the premiere.

This was the first time I've used a bluray anime source to make an AMV, since everything else I've always used DVD sources. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of some of the apparent visual issues at some points (though it looks better in my far less uncompressed version).

I'm very curious about your reactions to several things, such as the screen cuts, and the pinwheel recap effect I implemented near the ending (which was conceived by a friend of mine, and then put together by myself). Please feel free to leave comments/criticisms/opinions and such.

I liked the overall mood of your vid. I wasn't a fan of most of your split screens and overlays, but this was still good AMV. Congrats on your win at AWA! And it was nice to meet you in person :D

Thanks; the split screens are something I've done in the past, and when QA'ing with random friends and some editors, no one seemed to have a problem with the split screens (though I will admit that the overlay at 3:10 is kind of harsh, though I wanted to cut to those images without overlaying on top of Rei). Splitscreening is a technique I've been doing in my videos for years, this is the first time anyone's seemed to have a real problem with it. My real curiousity is your reaction to the pinwheel idea at 4:14).

Thank you, and it was nice meeting you as well!
