Gotta start somewhere

Post by Incred » Sun Mar 09, 2003 3:49 pm

I took it upon my self to create my first music vid. It was actually and experiment since I've never even touched a movie making program before. :)

It's located here - Right-click and select 'Save As' the file size is approx 14MB in WMV format.

The anime is Naruto, and I used "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi because I thought the song went well with the main character. ^_^

Tell me what you think. Don't be nice, be honest. Advice is appreciated. :)

Thanks for you time!

Oh, by the way. I used Windows Movie Maker 2 (ghetto). Just wanted to know, would Adobe Premiere make a big enough improvement for me to buy it? What are the advantages? With Movie Maker, I can only save in .wmv, that's one thing. :P

The most obvious benefit of using premiere or most any other video editing tool is you're more able to control the video and audio quality. Windows Movie Maker compresses your source greatly so that's why the file size is relatively small. Another benefit is that you can utilize even more digital effects. Another more important benefit is that you can change the timeline to however many seconds you want and thus gives you better control over the timing of the video to the music. If you look at your AMV there are maybe one or two unclean cuts where you see an unwanted flash for a half-second, if you had better control over the timing and cut the scene at the precise moment that sort of error wouldn't appear, but Windows Movie Maker is not able to precisely cut a scene.

Also try to edit your source so that there's no subtitles, subtitles can be very distracting especially if you're trying to lip-synch if you need help figuring out how to get rid of them if you can't work around them look up the lip-synching guides here on the site.

Cool, thanks Klin. I'll definitely have to look into Premiere. Movie Maker is kind of annoying. :)

if ur gonna learn premiere, my suggestion is to be patient
its a powerful tool, but ur gonna find urself getting frustrated, i don't think many people are ever "finished" learning it, as you find something new everyday

but stick with it and give it patients, i love it now
i can't belived i used to us WMM
im on my second (good) video, and 3 in the making currently
good luck

It's gotta be less frustrating that Windows Movie Maker. My first vid was more of an experiment. I just wanted to see if I could get certain things to work. I'm trying to make another one, now, and it's an annoying experience. The arrangement of clips is much more complex than in my first, and this program slows down, skips around when I'm trying to preview and likes to crash a lot. It's very difficult to get the timing right.

Gotta get Premiere. :(
