Beyblade AMV - Points Of Authority

Post by BladEra123 » Tue May 07, 2013 6:03 am

This AMV focuses on Brooklyn and how he shows his lethal side to anyone who stood his way, in this case there were Tyson and Kai who wanted to stop Brooklyn from his destructive plans to take over the world.
In the end there is shown how Brooklyn had such calm and soft side, giving him a different character than what he was shown at his dark side.
I used this song to show an impact on his character and making it clear how Brooklyn wanted things to go. The song is also fast in pace and the lyrics relate to Brooklyn's dark side.
---Thanks for watching. =)---

I do like the song choice, but after watching this I honestly got no sense of the synopsis you explained. It's difficult to do when you throw in random clips. I would recommend you avoid falling into the flash trap. I did once way back when. Yours weren't even synced. Make sure every effect means something or don't use them at all. I recommend making AMVs without using any effects to get the hang of actual editing and flow. And with lip syncing, either commit to it or don't bother at all. He wasn't singing along enough and when he was, the sync was off and his facial expressions didn't match the mood. I see your effort, so I recommend you keep at it.

My post today for the "Let's Get Active" campaign in General AMV! Grading Scale under spoiler.
Spoiler :
0 = Nonexistant
1-4 = Below Average. Lacking in key components that would make it an average quality.
5 = Average
6-9 = Above Average. Slightly above average, but lacking qualities that would make it something perfect.
10 = Perfect
Concept/Originality: Beyblade action AMVs are farily commonplace and it didn't do much to make it stand out from others of its kind. It also really lacked a solid concept. Although it is classified as "action", the scenery didn't emphasize this, mostly because I saw a lot of epic facial shots and not much in terms of them actually doing battles with the beyblades. I felt like this was the biggest aspect in which the AMV needed focus upon. Having a solid concept of what you want to accomplish will go a long way in how you develop your AMV. "I want to make an action beyblade AMV". With that in mind, picking scenes that show the best of action in beyblade usually means picking scenes of actual action with the primary tools they use to make action. Still, at least the AMV had some semblence of action with the scenery at least being more active than just random scenes and includes some actual "action" scenery. In terms of the story you were trying to convey, I believe it came across, but only because I read your comments and then put together from context what it meant in the AMV. I feel like Brooklyn's "kind" character wasn't really highlighted enough to make his dark personality shocking, and Tyson/Kai was the bigger focus of the AMV. 3/10

Editing/Sync: As I mentioned above, the scene selecltion needed some work. I rewatched this AMV several times over and there wasn't actually any scenes of the beyblades doing battle, it was just the reactions of the characters during the battles, or them falling over during the battles or them in a destroyed world. In terms of cuts/transitions, the flashes/stockeffects were off sync and didn't really match up with the music consistently, which took away from the overall experience. While white/black flashes aren't always a bad thing, the repeated use of them throughout the entire AMV made them get old over time. The inversion of the footage was fairly cheesy and really didn't add much to the overall experience. There was also several instances of repeated scenes being used repeatedly. Still, I have to give you some credit. The scenes chosen were actually fairly spot on in conveying the mood of the song. It felt like a connection that would actually work out really well, had the cuts/sync matched up and been executed better.

Visuals/Audio: The watermark in the top right corner was fairly distracting, and in this day/age there's really no need in watermarking your work anymore, since anyone with WMM can crop it off and re-encode it in less than a few minutes. Plus, it's just not professional and takes away from the audience experiencing your amvs. I felt like the footage could have been cleaned up a bit more or utilized better quality footage. There was interlacing within the video, blurred lines and blockiness. Still, not the worst I have ever seen, but also far from the best. 4.5/10

Effects: The effects were unnecessary and felt like they were added on without much rhyme or reason. I get they were added to add to the sync of the music, but it didn't do well. Instead we got scenes that are now hard to make out or not pleasant to look at. But I can give you credit for at least using them at areas that the music would have called for them. 2.5/10

Re-View: Not something I plan on watching more than once/twice. But I did watch it enough to realize I should re-watch beyblade. I only watched through season 2! 3/10

Overall: Needs a more clear focus on what you want to accomplish and you can come a long way. Editing/sync need more polish, and the visuals could use improvement. Overall, it was a below average video, but does show that you know enough to utilize footage in a way that works well with the mood of a song! Keep at it! :) 3/10
