Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Overboard [1o8o p]

Post by FoxyThingy » Fri Jan 06, 2012 3:20 pm

Hellow

That's my FIRST attempt to "create" an amv.
It took me around 2 hours to find suitable music and moar 22 hours to finish.
Feel free to give me some feedback (。_。)

Welcome to a-m-v.org Foxy!

Anyway, you had a good combination of anime and music, which would have been a really interesting concept. I think you also had a good grasp on the mood of the song, because you picked some good scenes that would have really fit well with the song parts that you placed them with.

However, you really lacked in "sync". There were SO many claps that were screaming to be cut/transitioned to. See how you cut at 1:13 to the clap? You could have done that with a lot of different transitions (NOT the cookie cutter ones like irises though...), but with zooms, hard cuts or blurs.

A lot of your scenes lasted WAY too long .

Also, generally, I wanted to point out that Bakemongatari has two different video sizes (one with black bars top/bottom and one without). Maybe perhaps think about matching video sizes next time? It adds to the viewing pleasure.

Still, for a first attempt, you started off on a right foot. Just keep it up, keep editing and moving forward and you'll improve with time. :)

Here's a handy guide that might help you in the sync department!

Kudos, and I hope you stick around!

Well it's ok since it's your first. When we all started in the first ones, lots of mistakes are done, but they can be fixed with enough practice. In your case problem is the synch as Code previously said, cuts too long. But don't be afraid of posting here, keep practicing and you'll see how much you'll improve

First, thank you for your feedback :3

I noticed my lack of sync after sleeping some hours, too. I'm trying to get rid of this problem within my next amv(s).

Btw.: I knew the problem with the video sizes. But I was too lazy to match them. :<
