[AKROSS 2011] Beautiful Days

This is a AMV I'm sure any Gintama fan will enjoy, and will maybe intrigue others to try watching this anime. Gintama is known for being primarily a random and comedic show, but it does have plenty of emotional and tear jerking scenes that I have come to enjoy so much. I wanted to show this side of Gintama so I attempted it earlier during the Summer but didn't like how it turned it so this is sort of a remastered idea using a different song then what I used before by SPYAIR which really inspired me to give it another shot.

I hope you all enjoy this AMV.

I, personally, loved it.

It had a good mood. The song/anime worked really well together, and felt almost like it could have been a song that an anime company would have used to advertise the anime. You also had pretty nice scene selection. I thought you picked pretty dramatic/interesting scenes and it had a really great impact.

I do wish that we might have had some more scene variety and some shorter lengths in some of the "stories" (such as the boy in the glasses or the girl in the red dress at the very beginning) to make some of the stories a little more clear as to what they're trying to convey. It was just a little slow moving at times. At the same time, the transitions between wildly different scenes weren't as successful with hard cuts in some areas. This AMV was screaming for crossfades, flashes or some sort of transitional medium (such as at 1:07).

The AMV has also inspired me to check out Gintama, because I'm dying to figure out the context behind all these very touching scenes. Also one of the better Akross entries, imho. |:>

I enjoyed this. For the most part it has pretty good scene selection and for someone who hasn't watched the anime it still carried an emotional energy with it. Although there were a few scenes that I felt like I needed to watch the show to have the emotional connection to, like the boxing scene.

:O and it's finally here.

As a comment: Gintama's fans will get the meaning of the video. For the people that haven't watched the show, I highly recommend it. Not bad sir

Yeah I actually wanted to introduce Gintoki, Shinpachi (glasses), and Kagura (red dress) at the very beginning before the song picks up because they are the main characters of Gintama. Though the next bit, which is an arc about Kagura, I had seriously thought about not using because I wasn't using any arcs about Shinpachi to sort of balance it out (in my mind). But I love that arc so much that I couldn't help it. The reason some "stories" were longer than others were either because they had more emotional scenes that I felt would connect more with the viewer or it needed that 5-10 extra seconds in order to "show" that emotion. Shorter parts are ones that I wouldn't be able to convey without dialogue or would take much time so I went with just using it's most powerful scene. Looking at it now I agree that part could probably use a quick crossfade, but the main one I notice now is at 1:46-1:47 haha... :(

I'm glad this has inspired you to give Gintama a chance Code, but just to warn you it takes awhile to get going just like KHR with all the character introductions and what not, but if you can push through all that and make it to the arcs you should find yourself happy you didn't stop.

And thanks for your comment, it means a lot for me to hear that. :D

Yeah, I knew while editing that nearly all of the scenes would require you to have actually watched Gintama in order to gain maximum enjoyment.
But that was just one way I was hoping would get viewers who haven't watched this anime to give it a try.

But every scene I used has a deep emotional story behind it, even the boxing part. This is what was being said at that moment,

"There is no need for any proof. There is no reason to create any. We just have to live every second to the fullest! And the traces of the path we lived will be burned into the ground... That will serve as proof of our existence!"
