Nausea in D Major [Otakon Finalist/AWA Expo Best Comedy]

Post by Cyanna » Tue Sep 21, 2010 7:47 pm

Finally got it up this weekend.

Hope you enjoy it can watch it without throwing up.

Many thanks to those who sat through the AWA Expo vids and picked this one for Comedy. Since I'm adding another video to the glut of Weird Al AMVs, I really was not expecting to get much positive feedback (if any). It was a very nice surprise.

I love the video! Great scene selection and timing, and it stays funny and consistent the entire way through. I haven't seen the anime, but it seems a good match as well. This one is staying on my hard drive.

Just a minor nit-pick, you could use a little more cropping off the sides to remove a little border and video junk, but I only noticed that cause I've been working on cropping/resizing stuff all day. It's fine, really.

Great stuff!

I enjoyed this. Your scene selection worked well, and I particularly liked the "perfect couple... get a clue" bit. I loved the "pain in the neck", too.

This video takes a bit to get going, but not too long. It appears to be simply edited for the most part, most of the effects being simple masking here and there. As a comedy video that relies heavily on lyric sync, it doesn't need more than that.

What I still love about this video is how, even as Al's complaints about his significant other get more and more specific, Cyanna manages to come up with visuals that match them more often than not. Bad makeup? Belching? Body odor? Alliteration? Yellow teeth? Puddle of drool? Yup, they're all in there.

The only part I don't really like is the drum fill, but not having seen any of Nodame Cantabile, I have no idea what else could have been done with it.

In short, it may be another "Weird Al" video, but it works -- and it's to a song that not everybody knows already. Also, it could be a fine advertisement to those who haven't seen the series (even though it really doesn't have much in the way of music going on).
