  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Anything But [Howl's Moving Castle]

Local has the standard definition, and the direct link has high definition [or at least my attempt at it].

[Note: I'm aware of the wait a week rule for annoucements, but I didn't want to put this alongside the Disney MEP and detract from it's attention. Besides the fact that the other thread was a collaboration, and wasn't just me who worked on it/announced it. :P ]

Somewhere around the beginning/middle the clips seemed to stray off of the song, and was more focused around the chronological events of Howl. It would have been fine with another song, but you started off on matching your clips with the lyrics, so when the main focal point of the amv was changed, it kind of threw me off. This began around :32 and lasted until 2:01, which is pretty long. You got back on track though.

On the bright side, it had very nice simple editing and the hd was very nice (by my standards, which probably aren't the same as others.) It was cute, and I smiled most of the time. Probably not my favorite use of the song, if I were to be honest (Kiarrens's D:), so it didn't really "stand out" for me. But it was by no means bad.
Oh, and I particularly liked 2:32-2:40. The clips were so very well chosen and fitting to the lyrics <3

Other than what I mentioned in the first paragraph, I really enjoyed it. Like I said, very cute :3

Thanks to your banner, I finally get why you named this "Anything but". Nice

Anyway, you already know this, but I loved this AMV since the very first beta. I think that the AMV's best quality is its pace. You did a very nice job at maintaining the pace of the song and matching the anime's story to it. Also, I really like your editing style. In a way, I feel that its very similar to my own, but at the same time, its completely different. Paradoxical statements FTW |:>

Since Howl's Moving Castle is licensed by Disney, this is actually your third Disney video to be released this week  . (The first two being your Durarara and Fruits Basket track)

The sync was good but I didn't feel the lyrics at all. It felt like you just went and rehashed Howl's Moving Castle on to the beat of whatever random song that sounded good. Everyone once in a while, the lyrics would match well like at 2:30 and the like but still.

However, enough of the bad. The quality is nice, the pacing was good, and the simple editing style really worked. Reminded me of pwolf for a second. Nice video, but still felt like a summary.

I'll have to work harder on the storytelling in the future, I guess my story didn't get across this time. And yes, I knew I'd be competing with Ouran Day, it's just always been something I've wanted to edit with. Thanks for the compliments and thanks for the critique.

Yes yes, after you saying you didn't get it, I decided to put that on the banner, as a means of hopefully getting across the concept without being too blatant. :D

And thanks for the compliments! Your feedback throughout its development was greatly appreciated and helped me make it into the great AMV it was.

And yeah, I actually do see a nice compliment between our styles, while at the same time being different. So I get what you mean. ;D

I suppose I need to work harder on my storytelling then. But thank you for the critique, and I will keep it in mind for my next work. ;)

I have the dvd in my room but I haven't watched it yet but when I do I will drop an OP
"Someday humankind will come to understand one another! I sincerely believe that!" Fei Fong Wong
"We live to make the impossible possible! That is our Focus!" Claire 'Lightning' Farron
"Believe in yourself, and create your own destiny. Don't fear failure." Toonami

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only way.
