Full review....I got a bad feeling.
Oh well, the whatever hype Cascadathon had is probably dead now, so I'm off to finally work on an amv for myself...

My track is off sync for forwatever reason. >.> No sense in fixing it, the track was bad in the first place, I just thought it deserved pointing out.

Re: Merry Christmas From The CascadaThon Crew!!!
Well after the mods removed my posts, probably because someone complained (and rightly so) so I actually sat down and gave this MEP a fair chance. To be honest it wasn't as stunningly awful as I expected it to be. I don't have complaints for specific editors, nor do I care to take the time to look back at the time frames, so I'll just say "That part where _____" and you'll know who you are.
Theres a lot to be said for an entire MEP made out of this kind of rubbish music; it was incredibly repetitive for one thing and some of the mixing was pretty iffy. For all the drama that was started over this MEP, I kind of figured it'd have to be excellent for people to be so willing to fight over it with the ferocity that they did, but no.
Parts that stood out for me were...well, the beginning half for one. It was interesting to pay attention to the effects usage in this, since the entire first half has almost no effects and then the tracks progressively seem to include more. The scene selection here was god awful though, and I'm speaking for everyone. Thirty back to back shots of some sad girls face is NOT stimulating editing. Vary your shots a little bit people, all close ups isn't nearly as appealing or "deep" as the editors think they are. Trying to evoke emotions on some bullshit music like this is just going to look funny and feel wrong, and it did both of those.
Another thing I've got to bring up is the one multisource track towards about...6:30-7:00 or somewhere in there...you know, the best one in the MEP? It's sad that this is the "best" one here because it only rehashes scenes we've ALL seen 60 million times already. I know the anime releases aren't as great as they used to be, but really guys? How often are we going to need to see gorgeous landscape shots, rotating and panning camera movements that only exist to move a lens flare around the screen, and a close up shot of a girls hair whipping in the wind? This is just....generic.
That's the biggest problem here: it's all generic crap. Nothing felt really right, all the effects have been done before and NONE of them (except the Digimon ones, those were excellent, good job whoever you are) felt right. Just masks, fades, and blurs...this was the greyest Happy Bouncy Mep I've ever seen. I mean Christ, can't we even get a decent Skittles rip in with some bullshit like this?
5 Nostromos out of 10 Nostromos on this one guys
P.S. Who the FUCK thought it was a good idea to add those overlays of Evangelion randomly into their track either? I meant to mention this in the body of my post somewhere, but couldn't find the right place to slip it in. Seriously who the FUCK was that? I can't tell you to kill yourself because the mods will think it's mean and delete my post again, but let me put it this way: if I found your suicide note on the table that said you were going to jump off a bridge at 12:30pm, and it was 12:05 pm, I'd order a pizza, rent the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and after I watched all 3 of those movies I MIGHT try to convince you not to jump.

Haha. Awesomesauce on your honesty Reda. Yeah, that track was mine. Flame me if you want, but it's loads better than what my other track was. Although the way you are talking, it sounds like you would have liked my Vandread one better.-Reda- wrote:Well after the mods removed my posts, probably because someone complained (and rightly so) so I actually sat down and gave this MEP a fair chance. Still though, had to quote this.......no way could I be mad at it XDDD
