- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I like how you mention that the 'org as a whole wouldn't recognize the reason as valid. As part of "the org" I think that making a video just for enjoyment is not only perfectly valid but also reasonable. However, you bring that into question, which makes me wonder if part of you believes that making a video with no other point than to enjoy it is somehow wrong and lessens what you make. Or alternatively, that you are afraid of being rejected by "the org" and thus need to somehow pander to it.Kionon wrote:While that may be the case, it really isn't one the org seems to recognize as valid. So as far as the org as an audience is concerned, this video has no point. I wanted to avoid people expecting this had some deep political or artistic meaning and the complaining when they didn't find it. My students are one audience; the org is another. Should I have to present the video the same way to both?
Instead, you could have just said that there was no politcal meaning to the video, or that it was not meant to be political commentary.

Also I'm kinda bias because I dislike political talk being thrown anywhere, like the same way I don't like Jenova witnesses fags from knocking on my door so early in the morning.
4/5
I probably would have liked to see more Obama integration. There's several parts of the video that are just the anime for a long time without the political stuff.

I figured I might as well say something about the actual video instead of its description. Anyhoo . . .
The first time I played it (just in windows media player), it was all messed up. The video was going ungodly fast, and the audio was just a moment of garbled static followed by silence. And you know what? It was incredible. I was seriously blown away.
Then I watched it in a different media player and was sorely disappointed. It was boring, the lip sync wasn't very good, and I felt like I was being shot in the face with the poor political messages (BANG BANG indeed).
So the messed up version gets 5/5.
The real version is a solid 2/5.

If you would, please refrain from including me in your blanket statements about the community. Feel free to admit what you will about yourself, but saying that everyone here is a hypocrite is moderately ridiculous.Kionon wrote:We say otherwise publically, but it's a sham. We demand our bread and circuses and we get grouchy when anyone dares to do otherwise. I have been a party to it. I am not innocent. But please, let's call a spade a spade and admit we've become a bunch of pretentious negative nancies.
