The 60fps were enjoyable, but it's still an annoying syncfestival where you don't even try to match the main changes of the music.

3.5/5

Also, Niotex for most improved :P

A lot of the things that were changed are probably too subtle for most people to notice. I'm glad at least some people noticed some of the extra work that went into this.

It's on a winning streak since it's release in.. 2005?

I think you're going to have to ask that yourself.
NS wrote:I used VLC and it worked fine.
Despite the tweaks to make it run smoother, there were issues with it locking up/skipping in VLC for multiple people. So it's still a fair warning regardless =]
Dr.Dinosaur wrote:In the end, though I still enjoyed the increased hotdog the second time around it was still, essentially, the same hot dog. I think I might have liked a sandwhich instead.
I completely see what you're saying Todd and I agree a 100%. But the video is what it is a "remaster". So it's not like I'll be gutting 80+% and starting something new from scratch. Still glad that while it tasted somewhat the same, you still enjoyed it.

Sorry you feel that way but see Todd's reply as well.

YOU MEAN LIKE EIDOLON?

Edit: Fucking awesome. Probably the only video I'll download this year too.
You're absolutely right I Indeed do mean Eidolon with that. And most people will recognize its similar usage from there. That aside I'm hoping that that will not be the only video you'll download [from me] this year.

I'll check it out!

Edit: Dang! Wish it felt more like a remake instead of a remaster. I liked the original as you know a lot and I also thought the visual quality was good as well. The feeling from beginning to end felt great from the original but this with it's intro and outro, it didn't really feel as much of a rush to watch. But it's cool that you used the HD footage and made it 60 fps, but I don't think it needed it. One thing that makes the whole 60 fps work with Nostromo is that he is the king at panning. If the video has a crap load of panning, and it's one of the main features for your video, then the 60 fps adds a crazy new feel. It also works great for some sped up scenes. This is just my opinion. It's nice though adding a new color to the mix with this remaster so I approve.
It is like it's listed everywhere a remaster. So getting your hopes up for something other then that is kind of silly imho. I see and agree with what you're saying based on the OP/ED. Problem being that remastering a OP/ED would be immensely silly. The pacing is something that stood out for me after I finished the video and uploaded it though. I guess one could say I was too focused to get it done to take a step back. And look at the global sequence rather then being strictly objective.

The 60FPS is actually extremely beneficial to this video. And while you might argue that it is strictly for panning. This video does actually have a lot of motion aside from the animation in it. Along with that far from everything is merely "sped up". A fair amount of stuff runs in its original fps but was interpolated in such a way to make it smooth across almost 3 times the frame rate. Most people will argue that interpolating is a bad thing to do to footage but if one takes their time and doesn't merely smack it on without looking back. 24 to 60 fps can look silky smooth. So what it comes down to is the fact that while you might not directly notice it. Gutting the fps down to 24 will vastly decrease the enjoyment of the overall experience.

All cuts were made based on the original video created in 6 hours 5 years ago. I agree with some of the shots being way too long. In return I've tried to make those shots a little more visually appealing vs the original. But in the end I didn't want to stray from the original with dominant cuts like that.

Real DoF > 2D DoF but its a nice inbetween step.
And you most certainly need to indeed.
Enigma wrote:Still one of the better Gits videos :O
That's what I got from a fair amount of people. So that plus my own interest in wanting to experiment sort of kicked off this project to start with.

2005 vs 2010. Remaster not Remake. I know its not a good excuse but that really is what your complaints boil down to.

I'm sorry?

Overall very pleased with the responses everyone is giving this video. I hope that everyone will look forward to future projects that will not be remasters.
