Unfortunately, no matter how good the amv is...you can only think of Auriga, which is close to perfection in AMV form...certain songs just cant be touched, period

Oh good grief.Unfortunately, no matter how good the amv is...you can only think of Auriga, which is close to perfection in AMV form...certain songs just cant be touched, period
Although I was honestly "meh" about your video, I'm not going to make a fuss about you ripping off "Watch Them Fall Down" to use as the song. I mean, Nostromo is not going to come and sue you just because you used his song choice in your video. It was a nice try at a nice video, though.
And for all you out there that *are* making a fuss about stealing another editor's song choice, just remember that the song never belonged to the original editor in the first place. We may think of certain AMVs when we hear certain songs, but at no point do these songs "belong" to their particular editors. Lord knows I've ripped off other people's song choices for some of my videos, and the original editors didn't whine because I stole their song choice....

Re: Watch The Fall Down [Anime Mix]
I don't think that's really what's putting people off. Obviously people using the same song as another video happens all the time. But when it comes to songs used in very popular and well-known videos, there's no way around many people not being able to see the song in any other context (at least when it's another AMV). Therefore, if the video isn't as good (in their eyes), of course they're going to compare it to the one they're far more familiar with. It's just the nature of the beast. So, it's not a matter of "I don't like this because you intentionally went out to rip off somebody else." It's more "You picked a song where I can't help but picture another video." It's nobody's fault and that doesn't mean you shouldn't use it if you want to. Just don't be shocked when people make the comparison and judge the video based on it.Brakus wrote:Oh good grief.Unfortunately, no matter how good the amv is...you can only think of Auriga, which is close to perfection in AMV form...certain songs just cant be touched, period

Like if I went and used Must Be Dreaming by Frou Frou. People would keep comparing it to Euphoria.Brad wrote:I don't think that's really what's putting people off. Re: Watch The Fall Down [Anime Mix]
So I watched this video.
For the first few seconds, as the song began, horrible thoughts came to my mind. I did not want to compare this to Auriga, I did not want to think of Nostromo, I did not want to see this biased.
In a few moments, this was all over.
Then I remembered, using MPC, I could watch this video using NOFX's 'Leave It Alone'
And thus order was restored.

Re: Watch The Fall Down [Anime Mix]
I don't compare videos. In fact, I like it when videos use similar styles, but bring something new to the table.
But the video quality was distracting [and for me to say that is like WTFBBQSAUSE], the editing didn't really fit the song's flow and the anime choices were little more that "ooh look at the pretty scenes".
The video lacked any real concept other than relying on the graphics of the anime, which as already stated about video quality, was poor.
I prefer videos with solid concepts or at least to be fun/enjoying to watch.
