I realize that.
Some facts for ya about what I did when I made this AMV:
1. Was my first time using DVD Decrypter.
I didn't have a lot of space to do everything I wanted after the rips and I had done everything according to the guide. The footage didn't quite turn out the way I like either. Hence the blurriness.
2. It was DVD footage, as I said, it was my first time using DVD Decrypter.
3. It was my first time using heavy masking in a video. As I said, I tried to get the quality as best as I could.
Thanks for all you guys' input. I appreciate it, and will take it into consideration.

Zetzu - they were just saying that they weren't sure of what they were doing with the program, not that it messed up their quality...
there are steps after DVD decryptor that you can do to improve the quality, such as dgindex them and filter them with avisynth...
as for limited hd space, what i used to do when i didn't have a lot of hd space was to go through the VOBs one by one and take clips of scenes i was more than likely going to use, also disable the audio since you aren't going to use that anyways... then delete the VOBs after i was done getting the scenes i wanted. and move on to the next one... doing the DVDs one by one instead of ripping them all at once can really help..

After I ripped the vobs and everything like that, I made the script in notepad, then saved to Divx 11. I did use virtual dub. But as I was saying, because of the immense size of the huffy's I couldn't do all the quality bettering stuff that I wanted to do because of lack of HD space. I tried doing filtering and stuff, and tried saving it after filter, but the huffy for the filtered version of the clips I wanted was over 16 gigs, and I already had a little over 20 gigs saved to my hd from the other video files. And yes, for the record, those were also huffy.
I tried everything, but couldn't do as much as I wanted due to lack of HD space. I'm only working with 40 Gigs here.
Comp Specs:
Celeron Processor
512 MB RAM
40 G HD Space
That's just a rough breakdown of my comp specs, but again....limited space.
I hope the clarify's everything a little bit for you.

i used to work with about that much space.... maybe a bit more.. (I had an 80gb with like 50gb free space - but could clip series down to about 20gb of files i wanted to use)
what i am saying is that you rip 1 dvd... dgindex it... then make the script and use Virtualdub Mod to "save" CLIPS instead of trying to save the entire file, and delete the audio by using this in your avisynth script:
killaudio()
deleting the audio will save you space.. lots and lots of space... one other thing? what program are you doing your editing in?
you could always try lagarith instead of huffyuv... lagarith makes smaller files, however some programs don't seem to like it.
and after you get the few clips you are going to use for that you delete the vobs of the first dvd and start the process over for the next dvd...
and if that doesn't help: get yourself an external hd.... my 1tb external is really spoiling me right now O.o

Well, I did choose no audio. So, that VirtualDub didn't make any default audio hence wasting my space. I knew to do that much.
For editing, I use Sony Vegas 7. And while I am editing, or when I get finished with my video, I save in Lagarith as Sony Vegas really seems to love Lagarith for some odd reason 0.o.
Anyway, that pretty much clarify's the program I use, although, I rarely use my Adobe After Effects, as I am not too familiar with making effects like what was in the LA footage of the MV. If I knew exactly how to make that effect, TRUST ME, I would have, and put it into the video. It was a gorgeous effect. But, I just don't know the basic routines for effect amking. Really the only effects I know how to make in AE is Rain and Thunder or lightning. I don't know how to make beams of light or sparkles. I realize that I would probably have to use the Partical World Plugin for AE as that is what I use for the rain. Anyway, I digress.
When I ripped the vobs, it ripped the whole disc. So, I really didn't have a choice. Well, I guess I maybe did, but again, it was my first time using DVD Decrytper.
I would get myself an external HD, but I just can't afford it right now.

in file mode you can highlight which files you want that way you can cut out trailers or extras you aren't going to use... and yea Vegas likes Lagarith, so use it for your source instead of huffyuv...
oh and you can make decent effects in Vegas, I've never used AE myself O.o

Oh, don't I know it. There very first time I ever used Vegas, I opened it up, and looked at it. When the window popped up, my Jaw dropped. It was such a big change from WMM, I was lost. But, I've been using Vegas for a long time now, and know how to work everything in the program. When that girl slapped Hibiki for touching her A** I used a simple barn door type thing and feathered it so that when she got to the peak of her slap, it would look like she just wiped away the camera and or the scene and it goes to the next one. I thought that part was well, done, that was one of the few parts in the video that I am extremely proud of.oh and you can make decent effects in Vegas
I try to do different editing styles and or just different things in general every time I edit a video. But, it always turns out with me going back to full on beat sync. Which is good, I just need to learn some other techniques I guess. Although, this was the first time that I had ever used any heavy masking in a video.
