Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I'm gonna have to agree with him. =/
I love the anime, and it this just bored me. Like he said, it all seemed like one long scene you synced the sounds to.

I wasn't going for a compendium of visuals throughout the films to show my viewers. My intention was to put this specific scene (Fujino's tragic ending) to music that I saw fit in my own eyes. Many of you on this website are used to flashy and heavily edited material, but it wasn't the direction I wanted to go in. I focused more on my audio composition and sound editing (sfx mixing and engineering). I recently edited a promotional advertisement for a project contracted by Paramount Vantage and A&E IndieFilms that was rich with montage sequences (similar to your typical AMV, but with motion graphics).

Thankfully I now know your expectations. Although I probably won't post another AMV on here again (sorry fellas!). All in all, thanks for your patience in downloading my video and taking the time to formulate an honest opinion.

I think you squished the video a bit.

Anyway, I think I see your problem here. This video only really works if you've seen Kara no Kyoukai. If you haven't, it's just audio and video without any link between them that makes sense. It's not a tragic ending (you do realize that she survived, right?) unless you know the source. The fight in particular is a bit jarring without context, and you really don't provide any sort of context here.

I noticed your SFX work. You seem to be approaching this as an exercise in accompaniment. It's interesting, but it's also very rare around here - most of us (and I am certainly no exception) work far more with the video than the audio.

I dunno. I liked some of the internal synch which is probably what you were trying to do with the audio but other than that, having watched the third Kara no Kyoukai movie episode it just felt too static, you needed to add more context instead of just using the last part of the movie where all the action is. So no despite having a powerful audio, I wasn't feeling the tragic element at all which is mainly to do with the delivery of the story and characters, regardless of whether I had seen this or not.

Regardless I did like the audio additions you made and the clever placing of them to the movements of the visual. 2.5/5
