To Photograph a Sin[Fatal Frame video]

lol but as far as the video lol I was like 'MSS (stands for miss sakurasan XD apparently lol) made a fatal frame video?? I gotta see this o.0' so I did ^_^ comments to follow in the op lol I'm sure it'll be great!

And one the video, I really liked it. I knew I'd love it since I saw the first betas. But the problems I told you about back then remain the same: the sync is really hard to get into, or hard to follow, whatever the way you like to put it. I know your syncing style and I'm totally digging it (Especially in Wingless and Feed the Fire) but now that we have a song as fast-paced and "intense" as this, I think we'd really need some more better-timed beat sync. The flow was pretty much seamless otherwise though. I liked how you used the effects of the game for your advantage and I also really liked the fast pacing you had there. Lots of cuts and flashes. But they should have been timed better on the beats and so. Now it seems like the sync got out of your hands and it was a bit messy.

But, aside that, the mood was something I can't nit-pick on. You're deffinitely the best at mood-syncing your videos since your clip selections just couldn't connect any better with the song :O This video was full of these little moody details that I'm not going to point out here though but later in the op. I don't know anything about Fatal Frame apart from the videos I've seen and videos using it always look so random. That's ok though because I take it's a pretty confusing game anyway. Asian horror is awesome though and the footage of Fatal Frame is just plain amazing. I just simply love looking at it, and deffinitely so when the video is well-edited like in this case. Since I don't know anything about the story, I'm having hard time trying to go deeper than the surface, but that's fine. There's always something to make out of it, especially if the mood sync is right on :O

I loved the chorus parts, especially the first, and the ending (the last chorus parts) looked very dramatic in a good way. There was certainly progression within your clip selection but when the song got all slow (in the "I do believe-" part) I didn't notice much difference in the video. The pacing didn't slow down as much as it should have, imo, but the clips worked though :3 Anyway, there's a thin line between "linear" and "progressive" here but I still think the video progresses quite nicely along with the song.. Anyways, nice work, and I'll write some more in the op later on ^_^

"Me first!" lol, thanks for the comments, sorry for making you miss your bus heh. I'll tell you something I just hated editing the slow parts with a passion, I went though like 3 versions for the 1st sences (Fatal Frame 3 one with Rei and Yuu hugging) cause of what to put for the sence selection so I had time to show what I wanted. I'll admit there are a few parts that I rushed beacuse I really wanted to get this done before Christmas due to the type of content and I was going to make 2 videos for my consins but I can't at the moment beacuse I have no time(I love my job but hate my boss....ok back on subject) the effects in the games did help out alot aswell as some of the camera angles like from :29 to :31(yea it's just 2 secs but I like how that looks ). anyway I'm glad you like it and thanks in advance for the op^^

Although the footage and song were not quite my type, I found this really nice. :O As mentioned above, the mood sync is perfect. Beatsync is nice too, since it works great for the atmosphere of the scary footage. The visual style was the same as the mood of the video - dark and scratchy, which worked fine for me. Quality wasn't so good, but it's acceptable since it's game footage.

yea the Zero team didn't do such a great job cleaning it in the 1st place, I'm hoping they will on Zero/Fatal Frame 4.....though it's going to be on a Wii instead of the PS2. anyway I'm glad you liked it even with it not really being you type. Thats a good thing for me to know that since I'm able to get someone into a video that doesn't...I guess watch many of it's type(though I have no real clue what you watch so I could be worng...sorry if I am) Anyway agian glad you thought it was nice...btw in your vid info for "no fate" my vid just calling Falling, though i think I used the words falling in time for the announcements, anyway it's no big

I like the combination of all 3 games in one video. sometimes you see that there is some in the past but there is a good flow in the video that makes the combination of all three really interessting. Also i think this game must be really cool and have a great story...

thanks for the comments, yes the games are really cool, They are the only horror games I like since it's mostly with ghost and I really like how the BG music and sounds make it so freaky, plus unlike other games all you have is a camera(luckly you can add stuff to it) instead of guns and unlimited ammounts of blood from shoting a zombies head off...anyway I'm glad you liked the combination, I was worried that some footage(mostly from the 2nd game) would take over the others but I guess I did a pretty good job with them, and yes they have really neat stories, if you happen to find one for rent or something try it out.

Well, you were at a disadvantage because you used the same song as aerialesque's Raging Sorrow, which is an AMV I really like. However, you certainly did it justice. You just keep getting better and better, honestly I'm more and more impressed with your progress with each new video you release. Editing-wise, this is your best yet. You kept up with the song very, VERY well throughout pretty much the whole thing. I wasn't bored for a second.

Also, given that most Fatal Frame videos I've seen have a very similar feel to them, you were really able to set this apart from the rest. Where almost every Fatal Frame video I've seen seems to focus on the horror aspect, your video has an almost sadder approach. It's quite a depressing video, and the only other video I can think of that does this is dj_ultima's The Chosen Two.

Basically, on the atmosphere. You just really nailed about every aspect of this video, as is becoming more and more typical of your videos, and it was a great watch. Don't know how much I'll rewatch it, mainly because I don't care much for the song, but it's definitely a keeper and if you keep improving at this rate, you'll quickly become an editor to really watch out for.

I really don't think Im at much of a disadvantage, but I know people are going to compare them( I'v already got an QC from someone who compared them and I don't think it will be the last one ether)
What I do ask(and this is to everybody and I think some would agree with me) if you can try to compare it to others videos I have done to see the impovments then to someone who has already past my level. To let you know I was really worried about make this vid because of the song choice but I'm glad I made it and I'm happy with it. Now I'm not as worried about some other idea's I'v had with other songs.....

/Fatal Frame connoisseur

Aerialesque's video will always be number one for me, but there's certainly room at the top for two great videos with this song. Generally, I liked this. Good editing, nice video quality (as good as can be expected from Fatal Frame - it's fairly poor, even in comparison to other PS2 games; I guess they were hoping no one would notice with all of the color filters, ha ha).

Watch the speed up on the scenes. It's a LOT more noticeable with games than with anime. You sped up most of the scenes in the video, too, so it's really a general nitpick for the whole thing.

The song is really aggressive stylistically, and if you were trying to show more of the story than the horror, it maybe wasn't the best choice. Even half of the lyrics only loosely fit the games, but for the ones that did work well, you picked the perfect scenes. Otherwise, the rest of this kind of felt like well-beat-synced filler.

Now, don't get me wrong. Despite the criticism, this is most likely going into my permanent collection. Fatal Frame videos aren't super common, and good ones that are not as horror-based are practically impossible to find. So you set yourself apart from the rest with this, and I give you kudos for that. Nice work, love.

Thanks for the comments, I'm not sure if you saw above post before Knowname's(I made it small) but it was your Chosen Two video that made me finally look for the games after hearing about them just a few days before hand. Also your criticism is just fine and it's actully helpful not mean, I knew some were going to notice the speed up sences, there are also alot that were slowed down.

Also I do have a reason for almost every sence and why it is placed were it is, while I'm keeping with the story I want to make a twist of something off in my mind that I can think of. My video Falling was the same way, I told some people who asked about some parts and they would be like "Oh I see it now" though it's easier for me to explain with speaking then writing it down
I'm not going to say "this is what I ment not this other thing" or anything like that to anyone but if they would like me to explain something I can do it the best way I can.

Anyway sorry if that doesn't make much sense. Agian thanks for the comments and I'm glad that I was able to set my video from the rest^^

I was in a hurry since I had class that day to get everthing up and it doesn't bother mine but I'm thinking about fixing it later. Also I am expecting people to be like "Sakura made a Fatal Frame vid? " and yes MSS stands for miss Sakura-san (it was codechrono who used it 1st), I hoped you liked it and thanks for the op.

I'm gonna echo Crack and Ultima on their technical critiques.

Wasn't my favorite of yours, though I didn't hate it. I think it was the video footage. Never been a big fan of that game, to be honest. Not to mention, your subtle editing style like in "Feed The Fire" didn't come out in this video, in my opinion. Nicely done video, a few flaws, but overall, still pretty decent.
